To give my two year old a ham sandwich?

i mean, really?! In her buggy as I wanted to get somewhere fast, she was eating a ham sandwich from tesco. Cue disapproving looks. Or maybe I'm just paranoid as ham causes cancer and is full of salt?

Yes.but was it foccaccia or ciabatta or white sliced? My god, some people....

naturalbaby · 18/08/2012 21:25

Is he a big 2? Maybe the disapproving thought he should be working.
Who knows.
Does it reeeeeally matter?

crashdoll · 18/08/2012 21:26

Hmm I think you are being super paranoid unless you were still in Tesco. In that case, people probably wondered if you'd paid or not.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 18/08/2012 21:26

Actually it was sliced white bread. and we had left the shop (not sure if the relevance of that?)

Oh crashdoll I see! It contained about 30% of an adults daily salt intake! (didn't check before I bought). I'm usually reasonably laid back about food but now wondering if I'm too laid back!

Really do you care?
I thought of mumsnet the other day. I was shopping with dh and ds was in his pushchair, he is 17 months.
I left them for a while and when i met up with them, dh had bought ds a pasty.
I could see the cat bum mouths as ds tucked into his Cornish. I laughed so much.
Ds really enjoyed it and as he has home cooked food every meal time, i think he will be fine.

FalseStartered · 18/08/2012 21:31

ack, it was a ham sarnie not a bag of crack

don't sweat it

crashdoll · 18/08/2012 21:32

Don't worry about it, as long as you're not feeding her tesco sandwiches every day, she'll be fiiiiine.

I don't mean this to sound bitchy but is she your PFB?

bogeyface · 18/08/2012 21:32

I can beat you.

I gave DD a sausage roll (from Birds, not Greggs, I do have some standards!) while she was in her pram last week. She is 14 months.

But it is a Silver Cross coachbuilt jobby, so I think I get away with it by being labelled as posh and either to rich to care what others think, bohemian or eccentric when I am in fact none of those things! I am a normal person, erring slightly towards chav, who happens to own a big pram :o

Softlysoftly · 18/08/2012 21:32

Oooh the nitrates.

DD1 never has Ham Muslim husband

Fruit shoots are the devil? Blush

lovebunny · 18/08/2012 21:33

i hope you didn't forget the mustard.

AGilchrist · 18/08/2012 21:33

I made sure I empties all the crumbs though
does that redeem me?
Dh looked so confused when I explained it.

raspberry :)

Softlysoftly · 18/08/2012 21:35

Oh and I win, DD2 was covered in greggs pasty crumbs the other day, even in her hair.

In my defence she is 11 weeks, she was bf and I was hungry Blush

DialMforMummy · 18/08/2012 21:37

YANBU
When is it acceptable for children to eat ham sandwiches otherwise?

what's wrong with a ham sandwich?

BlackholesAndRevelations · 18/08/2012 21:39

Nothing! I just wondered if I shouldn't give her it due to the salt.
