Spot on, Freddos

BlackberryIce · 17/08/2012 21:16

Are there liads of channels like with the Olympics?

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 17/08/2012 21:19

The seating policy for wheelchair users and families was quite, um, flexible, at Eton Dorney. The staff there were great Smile

GaryTankCommander · 17/08/2012 21:19

I don't know if there will be loads of channels because channel 4 have the rights not the bbc. I guess it depends what channel 4 plan on doing. Apparently Clare Balding is fronting it all.

Secrecy · 17/08/2012 21:19

My view obviously doesn't tally with the 'general populus' - OK - interesting to know that. I still disagree (in the best tradition of AIBU!!!) and I really have read your arguments. But hey - most disagree. Question answered! Thanks all!

Watch 'the best of men' on iplayer secrecy.

fivegomadindorset · 17/08/2012 21:21

Yes you are unreasonable why should the paralympisna have to share their event in order to let the world become mor pc.

AIBU?

Yes YABU.

No I'm not!

Hmm
Kladdkaka · 17/08/2012 21:23

Euphemia, I don't know what C4 coverage will be like, but overall C4 is the most highly funded channel on UK tv at the moment and it shows.

fivegomadindorset · 17/08/2012 21:23

The C4 coverage of the Paralympics at Bejing was brilliant and 5 live are covering it on radio as they did so well at the Olympics.

We need to make it as big and not allow it to be overlooked! I'm very excited about the Paralympics. We have Excel day passes and athletics tickets and we are going to a special celebration for the opening ceremony - whoop whoop Grin

They have Paralympics t shirts in Sainsburys Wink

WorraLiberty · 17/08/2012 21:43

I'm sure it'll be a big event...hopefully the biggest ever.

But it won't be as big or as glitzy as the Olympics as it is a smaller event with less athletes and less countries taking part.

As long as people understand that, they shouldn't be too disappointed.

Instead of comparing the Paralympics to the Olympics, they should compare it to past Paralympics and then see if we've done a good job.

Secrecy · 17/08/2012 21:52

Well on that, Worra - we can agree! Grin

I heard on the telly that there were 120 thousand Paralympic tickets sold at Beijing. London has sold over 2 million!

It's going to be awesome!

thebestisyettocome · 17/08/2012 22:04

It's a bit odd that Channel 4 were happy with Frankie Boyle taking the piss out of disabled people and yet they are hoping to promote disablity positively via the Paralympics Hmm

GaryTankCommander · 17/08/2012 22:08

Well I've been watching 'the best of men' for a while now... It's excellent.

I didn't realise that's why the Paralympic mascot was called Mandeville, after Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

WorraLiberty · 17/08/2012 22:17

We certainly can secrecy! Grin

I still fear we're going to get a whole heap of threads accusing the organisers of 'dumbing it down' because they'll be comparing it to the Olympics we've just had...rather than comparing it to past Paralympics.

For a start, it would be nice if the spell check on Google chrome recognised it as a real friggin word Hmm

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 17/08/2012 22:21

I've got my bunting ready.
Ds2 is going to the last day of the men's athletics.
Lucky tyke.

bisjolympics · 17/08/2012 22:24

They sold 1.8m tickets in Beijing.

BlackberryIce · 17/08/2012 22:24

It runs into the first week of back to school tho. Bit of an issue for kids

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 17/08/2012 22:26

Really?

Well that pisses all over my fire then bisjolympics.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 17/08/2012 22:28

I'm having to take ds2 on the night before he goes back to school because those were the only tickets we could get. But hey, he's 10, he'll be tired, he'll live.

redwineformethanks · 17/08/2012 22:32
