To not expect this from my boyfriend over a spider?

Last night I discovered that my boyfriend is even more scared of spiders than I am. I discovered a few weeks ago that he is scared of moths too.

So we're watching tv and a mahoosive spider starts walking along the floor, I scream and bf jumps up and stands on the chair. Cue me screaming 'get it get it before it goes under the sofa', him jumping up and down on the sofa even more. Then me screaming 'you're a man do something, hoover it up'. He screamed that he couldn't because it might get out of the air hole in the pipe. After 5 minutes of us both scrwaming and me threatening to get the man next door to catch it he stretched the hoover pipe out (it was already out) from the safety of standing on the sofa and got it. He explained afterwards that he only stood on the sofa because he believed it not to be a house spider but a tarantula. I have severe arachnaphobia but even I have never stood on a chair.

aibu the think he should man up what use are we together if we are both this pathetic?

Lovely sexist post, OP.

Of course YABU, yellow. I had exactly the same reaction when my then new boyfriend cowered when faced with a spider and IWU then, too!

I know a man is just as entitled to a fear of spiders as a woman is (and anything else come to that) and I am completely wrong to feel this way. But I do, so there.

My cousin is a big, buff scary looking fireman.

He squeals and chair-jumps when there are spiders about.

Sorry, but you will have to dump him. You cannot be in a long term relationship or marriage if you're both scared of spiders. It's a well known fact that one partner is the spider killer in all relationships. Ditch the loser.

Oh you've all made me laugh especially the person that mentioned him bashing the spider with his penis I should have suggested that to him. Grin
