I bleed lots. And it gives me dreadful wind. It's amazing evolution has not yet come up with a workable alternative.

I hate it, too. Heavy, messy, one month cramps, next headaches, next back aches, usually diarhoreaaaaaa or however the fuck you spell that word - and and that reminds me: fucking mood from hell.

My 7 yr old son has been a right pain in the arse these past few days, but boy have I been a goddam bitch back. I don't even like the child at the moment Sad and he is my one and only probably never to have another golden child.

IWishIWasSheRa · 16/08/2012 19:20

Ladies if you have completed your families get the ablation!! I had it done in June- amazing!!! The docs heat your womb- damage the lining so it doesn't 'refresh' anymore, I will not have another period again and my hormones will not be affected- still got it all it just doesn't work. Couldnt recommend it enough- felt like period pain for a few days after but now I can honestly say after years of crap periods it's changed my life!

happydotcom · 16/08/2012 19:23

I hate them!! I have PCOS so only get one every three / four months. But when I do.......cramps, nausea , bloating, pmt, headaches. Yuk!!!

BulldogDrummond · 16/08/2012 19:24

There is a way round it. Pay for a hysterectomy if you don't want any more children.

hiddenhome · 16/08/2012 19:27

You can't just ask them to do an ablation Hmm

bruffin · 16/08/2012 19:28

All my Dr wanted to do was put me on a marina coil. I hated the idea as has been on progesterone which made me cry and my boobs hurt so much. The thought having something coated in the stuff permanently inside me was horrible.

I have Bupa but my mum had it done on nhs- I had mine because my bleeding was so regular and heavy- I explained to my gp that I wasn't prepared to mess around with pills and coils any longer- i think I may have actually cried when explaining the impact that the bleeding was having on my day to day life. I think the first step is to insist on a referral to a gynae even under the premise of investigating pcos or endo and go from there. It was a relatively minor op- general anaesthtetic but there and back in 5 hours. My gp was v supportive and I think I would have had same outcome if I had seen my private gynae in nhs hospital. . Good luck fringe!!

I am coming to the end of my first period in 20 months. I had forgotten how horrible it was. I looked at DD and thought 'you poor little thing, you have all of this to come'.

How does the mooncup make it shorter and less painful? I bought one years ago but struggled to get the thing in and gave up. Maybe I should give it another go now that I have had a baby.

StuntGirl · 16/08/2012 20:06

You'd probabky have to buy a new one olive, they generally come in pre-kids size and post-kids size Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 16/08/2012 20:06

Yanbu I hate them so much. Mooncups are ok but I don't worry if I am cleaning it properly.

JollyHockeyStick · 16/08/2012 20:12

Mooncup is ordered. I will be most upset if it doesn't solve all my woes Grin

Also I'm going to drink wine and eat chocolate.

Seems a good idea :)

WelshMaenad · 16/08/2012 20:16

I dunno, mine turned up today and I am fucking overjoyed, given my fear that I might have been pregnant (which would be an arsing disaster).

But it's ok because I have come on today. HELLO FRIEND.

Happiestinwellybobs · 16/08/2012 20:16

Yanbu. Sat here bloated and waiting for mine to arrive, having been a mean cow for a few days due to PMT. I was only thinking today how rubbish it is to go through years of this - can't have children so no purpose to it, other than to give me pain, night sweats etc :(

LemonOCOGTurd · 16/08/2012 20:17

Krumbum No one should leave in a tampon all day, even with light flow!

I take evening primrose oil capsules. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I used to be curled up in a fetal position crying with pain. Now I can almost forget they're happening.

MrsHoarder · 16/08/2012 20:20

Mefanic Acid is your friend too! Fab stuff, got rid of nearly all the pain.

Krumbum · 16/08/2012 20:20

I have told her now not to leave it in for more than 8 hours.
She'd heard the tts info wrong and thought you werent meant leave them in for less than 8 hours! I had to explain that I soaked through a tampon in one hour lol. She was very shocked!

Vajazzler · 16/08/2012 20:28

Having an ablation will not cure you're problem. I had one feb 2011 due to losing 150-200mls during my periods. I was warned by the doctor who performed it that they rarely last 5 yrs and now, 18months later i'm already half way back to how i was before. I'm on day 4 of this months period and am up to 87mls with no sign that its coming to an end.
It does help at first, the first 6 months i had 2-3 days of period and didnt fill my mooncup at all during each cycle, but it is not a permanent cure :-(

McHappyPants2012 · 16/08/2012 20:34

I find periods alot better since coming off all contraception it's been under 2 years since coming off everything.

My periods still lasts up to a week :(

MissCalamity · 16/08/2012 20:47

I've sailed through mine since having DS 2.5 years ago, but last month I used a different pill and oh my god, I was so depressed, teary, miserable, in pain and bled for 6 days - 6 DAYS what's that all about??! The other pill packet of the same brand got swiftly binned, I'm hoping to go back to minimal bleeding and hardly any pain and at least a smile on my face so the whole world doesn't know I'm on the "blob" cos I was such a misery!! Blush

Yama · 16/08/2012 20:53

Right, think I might give this mooncup a go. Where's the best place to buy one. I noticed they are £17.95 on Amazon. Fucking hell, it's expensive being a woman.

JollyHockeyStick · 16/08/2012 20:57

But yama, you then save on tampons and towels :) in theory.
