when they visit next week? They are all veggie/vegan and wheat free. They are staying in self catering accommodation when they visit, but I know they will turn up each night at aprox 7pm expecting a veggie/vegan wheat free meal.

I have told them I will cook for 2 nights and that is it. I work FT and have 2 small DC. I know IANBU btw, just thought I'd share the horror that is my family.

And to what extent is your niece planning to set the agenda for her birthday? Is she inviting people round to yours? I would have to tell her it was very rude to assume you'll host.

Chased they didn't say anything, they wouldn't. What they do do is just assume unless you say no. Oh and my niece won't be inviting anyone as she's on holiday too. I have said we may have a BBQ next Friday and they can bring stuff to put on it if they like.

Quinoa tastes of absolutely nothing at all. It is vegan and gluten free and very easy to cook.
Grilled tofu doesn't taste of much either... Wink

Cheeky sods! Just make sure you make things like Beef Wellington for the days you have said you're not cooking!!!!

YANBU.

Can't believe people are honing in on the dietary requirements as the issue - the issue is the OP's family members taking the piss entirely (but taking the piss AND expecting their dietary requirements to be catered for does add a certain level of grrrrr to it).

YANBU.

And every other night make sure you eat something from which the meat is not easily separated - lasagne, shephers pie, mince and onions...
