Boys playing with toy guns

harmless or not? What rules apply in your house? Will you even allow them, if not, why not, what are your concerns?

Six year old ds loves guns and playing cowboys, and I struggle to see the harm. Interestingly the people I mix with in the uk don't seem yo mind, but back home in Germany people are horrified.

Boys will turn anything into guns. 'Best' example was my late wife's slightly-heeled shoe.

Don't worry about it. As a kid I was into military modelling, wargames, pre-computer role-playing games and the rest. To date, I'm not a psychopath, haven't killed anyone and hate films with violence and horror above '12' rating.

DS didn't have a toy gun until he was 5, now 7. He has water pistols and nerf guns. I don't see the harm really, but we do have a rule of no pointing at or shooting at people or animals. I like to set up targets or cups for him to knock down. My dd who is nearly 5 also plays with them.
