Here

Her 21 year old son had a tattoo on his shoulder. She didn't talk to him for 3 days.

What makes it so silly is that she seems to believe that because he made one decision that she didn't like, he doesn't care about any of her opinions and that he doesn't need or care for her anymore. What self-centred, melodramatic nonsense.

My parents & I went through the same thing when they discovered I was on the pill at 17. It utterly shocked them and they felt I had betrayed them.

It took a long time for us all to get over it (perhaps a year?) but during that time their reaction was so extreme that I felt utterly alone and rejected. We are as close as ever now but I never want to make my kids feel the way I did then.

This silly woman hasn't stopped to think how her reaction is affecting her son, worse she feels justified in writing an article in a national news paper about it.
