Here

Her 21 year old son had a tattoo on his shoulder. She didn't talk to him for 3 days.

Jumping, God didn't create my body, so I don't see why he should get a look in on the whole debate. As you said, each to their own...

JumpingThroughHoops · 14/08/2012 21:52

My children are beautiful (in my eyes) they don't need to scribble on themselves.

It's branding, like Auschwitz numbers, a marker for life.

ginhag · 14/08/2012 21:54

Crikey, you're right in saying you don't care about offending anyone then!

SirBoobAlot you are beautiful(waves)

JumpingThroughHoops · 14/08/2012 21:58

I'm a lentil weaver Grin

seriously - would you agree every baby is born perfect ? (take the god thing out - that my belief and not everyone elses) , so if every baby is a perfect bundle - why would anyone want to ruin perfection?

ginhag · 14/08/2012 22:01

Look. It's only 'ruining' 'perfection' because you don't like it.

Last time I checked I wasn't a tiny bundle of anything and nor have I been in a concentration camp ffs

Lilithmoon · 14/08/2012 22:01

Do you cut your hair Jumping? Your nails? Do you ever wear make up or perfume? What about clothes?

fridakahlo · 14/08/2012 22:03

I think there is a huge amount of physiological difference between a new born baby and an adult.

SirBoobAlot · 14/08/2012 22:04

Threesocks I don't remember who you are Blush but I'll wave back very energetically Grin

Hoops but we're not talking about babies, we're talking about adults who choose to make a decision for themselves. And you will offend a lot of people with the Nazi comparison.

I think we can safely say that a newborn baby with a tattoo would pre somewhat frowned upon :)

ginhag · 14/08/2012 22:05

BE frowned upon.

Fecklessdizzy · 14/08/2012 22:06

I thought she sounded mad as a box of frogs, meself ... He's 21, for Gods sake! Why on earth shouldn't he get a tattoo if he wants one, it's his arm he's inking, not hers ... Hmm

Grin Maryz. Am not sure anyone would actually fall for that one...

Lovelynewboots · 14/08/2012 22:11

It is easy to criticize this woman, but it's not so much about the tattoo but her realisation that her opinion didn't matter anymore. I thought it was a brave piece of writing as she knew her reaction was wrong and that she would have to accept her son as he is, not how she imagined he would be.

MyDogShitsMoney · 14/08/2012 22:12

My bonkers mother told DSIS to take out her belly piercing or move out. She was 21.

Mother spent ages crying hysterically at the betrayal and crushing disappointment.

Personally I'd have packed a bag and never looked back.

It's impossible to make someone like this see any kind of reason, they are sadly unable to see any negative as anything other than a personal attack.

They genuinely see their histrionics as rational. It's truly exhausting.

That poor son Sad

Their relationship is certainly not ideal and I also thought the comment about how he paid for it was a bit weird. I just hope she has seen how irrational she has been and by writing this article It has made me think and hope I don't fuck it up when my kids get tattoos.

LadyBeagleEyes · 14/08/2012 22:31

She says 'I would have understood if he'd lost an arm'.
Yeah, because that would be way better than having a tattoo Confused.
She is writing like she's had a bereavement in that article, so fucking insensitive.

GhostShip · 14/08/2012 22:31

Its all about her isn't it. Me me me, I I I. Not a thought for her sons feelings
