Olympic closing ceremony - was it really posh spice and if so why did they hardly put her in shot. I thought it may be a double hence no close-ups. What do you reckon?

Catandthecream
I thought exactly that - mention Victoria Beckham in the fashion slot and almost exclude Posh from the filming and she'd do it!
Must have been nice for her boys to see their Mum on stage though - or possibly thorough embarrassing. A couple of them seemed to have 'grab the rail quickly' moments! Grin

Tryharder · 13/08/2012 12:51

I would have had more respect for VB if she had got stuck into the performance rather than making it obvious that she really didn't want to be there and that it was all soooo beneath her.

Who was it that said she is the only one with a proper career? What? Shagging a footballer. Let's not pretend that she would have made it as a designer had she not already had that notoriety. Sorry to be so bitchy but why on earth can she just not get over herself. The others were great btw.

ssd · 13/08/2012 12:55

why didnt they mention stella macartney instead of posh for the designers, surely she's better known?

TheCraicDealer · 13/08/2012 13:45

It was probably a nod to her as she was performing. It was me that said she's the only one that doesn't really need the exposure, which is true. Like it or not she's made a success of her fashion line, it's been praised by loads of movers-and-shakers in that industry. You don't get that handed to you on a plate, even if you're already well known (look at her jeans line). It takes a lot of hard work and commitment. So it's a bit unfair to say that her life story begins and ends with "shagged a footballer".

whatthewhatthebleep · 13/08/2012 13:53

spice was maybe nice (a bit) for little girlies years ago....but now it's all pants and they should never have been there....bloody awful altogether....and posh pants VB is the worst, miserable pouty one...always was pants.....cringeterrible!!!

Elbow...great
Queen...great
JJ...pretty good
THE WHO....brill

ballerina's bit was crap...even though I know the years of training etc it takes...it couldn't translate on such a large staged event so that wasn't a good idea
other bits were a bit weird and making sense of some of it was...????? dunno...just odd really

cornybootseeker · 13/08/2012 14:33

'shagging a footballer'
How nasty
When VB got together with DB she was way more famous than he was.

ssd · 13/08/2012 14:34

criag, I dont think anyones said that about her for a long time

TheCraicDealer · 13/08/2012 14:36

See Tryharder at 12:51....

SirBoobAlot · 13/08/2012 14:42

I loved the spice girls in the 90s, when I was like... six. They should have stayed in the 90s.

To be fair, Emma B looked stunning.

WopBopALooBop · 13/08/2012 14:43

I was there, I'm in the choir and she walked right past me about a foot away. It was her. And she is normal-size up close, not emaciated! :) love her.

ssd · 13/08/2012 14:50

tryharder, take your own advice

WopBopALooBop · 13/08/2012 14:51

And they weren't miming. They were singing live over pre-recorded vocals, as were all other performers, including the orchestra playing and the choir. Inc Jessie J, inc Emeli Sande, inc Ray Davies, in The Who, etc etc etc etc etc.

ssd · 13/08/2012 14:52

wow wopbop!! isnt she really thin though, thats not normal size

ssd · 13/08/2012 14:52

who did you think was great wopbop?

cantspel · 13/08/2012 14:55

why is everyone going on about the Spice girls when you also had the great Ray Davies singing waterloo sunset on the same stage. After that it is a question of spice who?

flexybex · 13/08/2012 14:57

What does that mean, wopbop? Singing live over pre-recorded vocals?

maddening · 13/08/2012 14:59

liam looked like the ageing lovechild of dudley moore and the fonz

NameChangeGalore · 13/08/2012 15:01

No it really was her, but I thought she was getting well into it. She was always the moody one. U+263B or alt(+)2

threesocksmorganwinsgold · 13/08/2012 15:19

what no mention of the "biggest boy band in the world"

WopBopALooBop · 13/08/2012 15:36

Really, VB is absolutely minute height-wise, and really to me, she looked totally in proportion. Great legs.

flexybex basically, for example, the choir went into the studio and recorded all our tracks, and they were played out into the stadium through all the speakers, so everyone in the stadium could hear the track properly. Then we also sang live, in real life, actually singing our hearts out, over our recorded vocals. If we ONLY sang live, with no track, no-one would hear us as it would be an absolute nightmare to balance the vocals with the music in such a huge stadium, also taking into account all the cheering/screaming/general production noise/pyrotechnics noise, and the fact that the stadium is just bloody enormous and OPEN TOPPED, there's no way anyone would hear anything if singers were just singing normally into the mic. The orchestra did the same, played over their recording.

ALSO if everyone sang without a track would have been a disaster and everything would have got out of time very quickly. It's so loud even with our noise cancelling headphones it was hard to hear our metronome in our ear. Because the stadium is so big, the noise in the stadium was a second behind the tracks in our ears due to the echo.

So basically everyone was just singing over a track because the venue is so big.

If everyone just mimed over their tracks it WOULD have looked shit. So hard to perform properly when you're not producing any sound. Singing is v physical and you have to put your whole body into it, and when miming people just move their mouths and it looks crap. So that's why we actually sang rather than mimed!

AHHHHH it was such an amazing night!! Cannot believe I actually did that last night. We danced behind muse! That was probably a highlight for me, even though not much of a muse fan. The muse man is absolutely miniscule (smaller than VB height-wise I reckon!)!! Hmm not sure what else was my fave ssd. LOVED singing Freedom, mainly cos it's so fun to sing, but George's moves were classic!

flexybex · 13/08/2012 15:44

I was wondering how they got the sound together with the size of the stadium. Thanks wop, a question answered!

Well done to you lot. Thought you were brilliant with Muse! ....and the Beatles songs...... and everything else...... and you all looked great too. You must feel very proud of yourselves. It must have taken a lot of hard work. Smile Smile

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 13/08/2012 15:48

That confirms what I thought about the Music/Vocals.

And example what happened to Macca in the opening ceremony too.
