Had a lovely moan at a man parked in a parent & child bay today at a supermarket!! He told me to f**k off as he could park there as it was the first space he saw and he has a daughter at home!!!!

Carpark attendant saw the incident and told me I was out of order!!! As a result of this idiotic man parked in that space I had to struggle to get a infant carseat out of a 3door car in a normal space.

Was I unreasonable to have a go at the man??

Sorry for the long post

Would you all object to an elderly person using a P & C space?

My mum needs loads of space to get out of our car. So we park at the back offthe carpark ,when really it would be better for her if we could park nearer to the shop.

Tangointhenight · 11/08/2012 22:13

People who park in them without kids or another valud readon such as illness or disability feel they are entitled to do so because legally they can and it's not enforced. They are discourteous and ill mannered because they can be, it's quite immature actually, like giving all those with kids the secret fingers and saying up yours take that you entitled parents you I can park here and you can't stop me.

Tangointhenight · 11/08/2012 22:13

*valid reason

threeleftfeet · 11/08/2012 22:13

Those of you who think P&C places are fair game if you don't have a child, are you the same people who don't offer seats for pregnant women / old people / people carrying childen on public transport?

Are you this ones who sit in the priority seats without a second thought for who might need it more than you?

It's basic politeness FFS!

One day you will be old and frail, and you will see how bloody selfish people like you are are.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 22:13

But all the car park spaces at the front are P & C spaces so we have no choice but to park further away.

threeleftfeet · 11/08/2012 22:14

Do you also park in the disabled spaces at the supermarket?

TidyDancer · 11/08/2012 22:14

They are a marketing tool, not a requirement. I'm sure you don't take notice of every piece of marketing signage that you see.

Irrespective of that, entitlement to a space is only bestowed upon a person with a blue badge.

Supermarkets do not have to provide P&C spaces, therefore there is no entitlement to them.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 22:14

But you can't park in P & C places if you are old and frail.

Tangointhenight · 11/08/2012 22:14

usual absolutely not in fact I have moved to offer my space to an elderly couple.

AmandaLF · 11/08/2012 22:15

Yanbu. Pisses me off too.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 22:16

But according to this thread I am fair game to be yelled at because we don't have children with us.

landofsoapandglory · 11/08/2012 22:17

How do those of you who "need the extra room to get the baby out" manage when you go to other places, like hospitals, for example? Genuine question.

threeleftfeet · 11/08/2012 22:17

I swore at a whole tube carriage of people the other day.

We got on a packed tube. Not one person offered us a seat. DS (3) asked "mummy can we sit down". DS and i were nearing the end of a 5 hour journey and he was very tired.

Not proud I swore in front of my son but I was raging.

I said "no, because not one of these rude fuckers has offered us a seat".

I would never leave a mum and child standing, people need pulling up when they have no manners IMO.

Tangointhenight · 11/08/2012 22:18

I don't think anyone should be yelled at to be fair, but it's ok to feel a bit annoyed about it.

TidyDancer · 11/08/2012 22:18

Did you ask for a seat, aufanie?

threeleftfeet · 11/08/2012 22:18

usual suspect if I see you getting out of your car without a child in a P&C place, i will say "these spaces are for people with children".

Marne · 11/08/2012 22:19

Maybe they should have parking spaces for people who have eaten too many cakes and are too fat to get out of there cars without hitting the car next to them? and spaces for lazy feckers who cant be bothered to walk? Grin (joking BTW).

OP has a right to be slightly pissed off but yes its not worth confronting the person. Some people are just lazy and feel that its ok to park wherever they like.

threeleftfeet · 11/08/2012 22:19

No I didn't. I stood there for about 5 minutes, obviously struggling with DS and large bags.

Plenty of people could see we really needed a seat.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 22:19

But what if I have my elderly mother with me who struggles to get out of the car and could do with a bit more room?

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 22:21

You see I think an old persons needs are far greater than a fit mother and child.

TidyDancer · 11/08/2012 22:22

So instead of asking if anyone would give you a seat, you swore like that in front of your DS?

Seriously?

It's really a different issue than the P&C spaces, but if you really don't think you were in the wrong there, I am concerned.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 11/08/2012 22:22

And if I said that and the person was old frail had a medical problem I would be massively embarrassed.

That's why I wouldn't do it, if your that annoyed mention it to staff.
