To moan at a man parked in parent & child bay when he was clearly childless!!

Had a lovely moan at a man parked in a parent & child bay today at a supermarket!! He told me to f**k off as he could park there as it was the first space he saw and he has a daughter at home!!!!

Carpark attendant saw the incident and told me I was out of order!!! As a result of this idiotic man parked in that space I had to struggle to get a infant carseat out of a 3door car in a normal space.

Was I unreasonable to have a go at the man??

Sorry for the long post

Do people really have a go at people over this?

Tangointhenight · 11/08/2012 20:51

I love these threads.

I also love parking in P&C spaces when I am alone to see if anyone challenges me.

Makes shopping so much more fun.....

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 20:52

How on earth do you get through life if you can't negotiate traffic with children?

Sirzy · 11/08/2012 20:52

If they insist on providing P&C places they should put them right at the back of the car park.

Exactly, then people will have the door space they want and people won't use them just because they are closer to the store.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 11/08/2012 20:52

Well if your happy to park further away simply straddle two spaces then. In my big tesco if your willing to park at the back there are always loads of empty spaces. I can't park in a normal single space but that's nothing to do with ds. I'm just shit.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 20:53

I might get DP to park our car in one to see if someone has a go at us.

mellowcat · 11/08/2012 20:53

I think YABU to have a go at the man. He was being a bit cheeky but essentially minding his own business and you having a lovely moan to the extent of being told you were out of order was completely unnecessary. Also, from your name are you a Nanny and were you working? If so you are possibly not really fulfilling the Parent and Child bit yourself!!!

CakeBump · 11/08/2012 20:53

Stinky if you park further away you will have plenty of space on both sides as there will be fewer cars around you.

aufaniae I don't think I'm really required to answer that question am I?

usual I think you have found the solution right there.... :)

Yep. I've been shouted at a few times and I have blue badge! Shock

ToadsPornFrogsPawn · 11/08/2012 20:53

Why on earth do you take the car seat into the shop? Remove child, place in specially designed baby seat on trolley. Easy. P&C spaces are for those who can't park properly in a standard space.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 11/08/2012 20:54

Take a tiny tears doll usual. You can point at it if anyone has a go.

dottyspotty2 · 11/08/2012 20:54

We never had P&C parking and there not legally enforceable spaces anyway just supplied as a curtesy.

You only need to be able to open your door. The p&c ones are way too wide. Luxurious! I park in them on the wonk if I do use one.

usualsuspect · 11/08/2012 20:56

Theres always loads of spaces at the back of car parks, because its like miles away from the door.

CakeBump · 11/08/2012 20:57

Never seen a full one Stinky.

Never.

Spammertime · 11/08/2012 20:57

Usual you are totally right they should put them further away. The car park I use them in has v narrow spaces which is fine when I'm on my own, but is hard to manoeuvre 3 kids out of - I wish the p&c spaces were as far as possible from the entrance as it genuinely is the extra width that's nice (particularly with some of the shitty parking I've seen where I've been blocked out of my car- actually that was when I was pregnant and literally couldn't squeeze my bump into any of the doors of the car).

That car park is unusual though and I agree that generally its just easier to park miles away from the doors and walk. Pointless to have a go at anyone, although on one occasion I did say to a lady that she'd forgotten to get her child out of the car. I know it's childish but it was quite funny watching her try to bluster her way out of it.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 11/08/2012 20:57

I take my hiking boots and a packed lunch and stop half way, make a little day out of it.

Shullbit · 11/08/2012 20:58

Jesus. Yes, if you get a P & C place, whoop for you. If you don't (I never do) then suck it up and do what you would do at a car park without the spaces. You GET ON WITH IT.

I never check the cars, they could have children or not for all I know or care. Why are others making a point of checking? Rather pathetic. They are not enforceable anyway so getting your knickers in a twist having a row with someone about it is pointless.

Some people need to get a grip.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 11/08/2012 20:58

My tescos is proper busy and the main one in a city and the ones at the back are always empty. Always.

Even Christmas eve they were.
