So, after posting a thread on here about my baby weight and being told I needed to stop whinging and start loosing it (thank you by the way) I joined weight watchers and started going to the gym as much as possible (about 4 to 5 times a week for 45 minutes or more). I have literally been busting my butt to try and loose weight. And after 6 weeks I've lost 5 lbs. It's not much (I have another 15 to lose), but hey, I'm proud of myself.

So I put as my facebook status:

"Well it took 6 weeks, but I've finally lost 5lbs! :)"

To which my friend replied:

"Great!! And I've lost 4 lbs in 10 days by just maintaining a normal life style .. I simply walk, where it's possible, rather than driving the car even accross the street like I do"

Am I right to think she's taking the piss a bit? Or am I just being overly sensitive...possibly from lack of food :P

Well done you!

She's just a bitch.

pictish · 08/08/2012 10:02

She just sounds a bit zealous to me!
Your reply was perfect.

ChuffMuffin · 08/08/2012 10:08

Size 4, and she's lost 4lbs in 10 days? There's something not right there. Sad

Well done on your weightloss! As previously pointed out muscle weighs more than fat, so 6 weeks of gymming means you'll be all lovely and toned as well as losing weight!

My all time favourite comeback:
I may be fat, but you're ugly, and I can diet!

Well done!!!!

You have probably lost a lot more inches than weight as well, when I exercise a lot the inches fall off but the weight doesn't come off as quickly, you should definitely take some measurements etc - that motivates me loads.

Babylon1 · 08/08/2012 10:41

The 5lbs that you have list in 6 weeks (well done btw) is much more likely to stay off for good, whereas the 4lb she has lost in 10 days (do we really believe this?) is very likely to creep back on and bring a few more pounds with it in the process - so let her have her dig - you're losing weight the healthy way and will benefit far greater and for longer than she ever will Wink

list LOST

aaargh stupid iPhone and fat fingers Blush

bubalou · 08/08/2012 12:15

I think trying to overshadow or brag. I personally would never comment that in reply unless it was something like 'I've been trying to lose weight the past month and it's going slowly but surely - well done you' etc.

I know that none of my real 'friends' would say this to me.

Keep up the good work. x

I would just message back....saucer of milk?

allotmenteer · 08/08/2012 17:04

As Babylon says, the weight you have lost is much more likely to stay off. Your "baby weight" did not just go on overnight - it took the whole of your pregnancy - 9 months or 40 weeks. If you carry on at the rate you are going for the next 34 weeks, you will have lost 40lbs or nearly 3 stone.

Keep up your fantastic work and then see who has the biggest laugh

nickelbarapasaurus · 08/08/2012 17:08

the thing is, it's harder to lose weight doing "normal daily stuff" if you already do that!

so if you've always walked, etc, then just doing that is not going to do anything for you!

SilveryMoon · 08/08/2012 17:14

What a bitch. Couldn't help but giggle a bit at it though, as I have a friend that says shit like that. In her case she just doesn't realise how rude Asher can come across.

Well done on your weight loss.

HappyAsChips · 08/08/2012 17:14

You should reply: Well, they say the fatter you are the quicker you lose the weight early on, isn't that right? Grin

MrMiyagi · 08/08/2012 18:25

4lb is 13200 calories. A 1320 calorie deficit per day solely from walking a bit? Definitely complete bullshit unless she was 18+ stone (which as you say she isn't).
