to make DS replace my bone china mugs

i hate this, i hate feeling like this but i cannot wait until DS goes to uni in Sept......he is draining every last ounce of strength i have.

He is 20, he has SN,

i have some bone china mugs that i lovingly chose on holiday, DS has thrown them away rather than wash them up. Sad

he takes mugs to his room despite repeated requests not to do so because they stay there until they are growing things
then he chucks them away rather than wash them.

now 4 out of my 6 bone china mugs are missing.
i know its trivial but its just another nail in the coffin for our relationship and i hate myself for thinking this but i cant wait for him to leave home.
i need a break from him so badly or i will end up doing him a damage.

i have asked him to replace the china mugs.

Look online and get him to replace them, then get him some polystyrene cups so he can use and throw away.

I remember your thread saying he failed the year. I'm so pleased something worked out. Smile

It's good you've posted on the main boards Vic, sometimes we forget what a Looking Glass world we live in. Grin

Thistledew · 05/08/2012 20:42

Get him some polystyrene cups to drink his tea from and tell him that if he wants anything better to take to uni he has to replace your mugs before buying himself one to take away?

Thistledew · 05/08/2012 20:42

X-post with LadySibil

VicarGoingForGoldInKungFu · 05/08/2012 20:43

feeling for your spice cabinet here too fallen.......
at least your drawers were put to use

im looking online but it seems they no longer make the same design.....he will get a shock at the price though.

he can buy me 6 new ones when i find another design i like.

Yes Fallen it is, and the use of enamel paint...

Quite how either of you haven't throttled your offspring I'm not quite sure.

Bone china binned, spice rack cannibalised AND unorthadox use of enamel paint

FeakAndWeeble · 05/08/2012 20:44

Actually you'll probably need to do a whole 'shiz for uni' shopping trip for stuff like this anyway - just do it a bit early, get him some cheap mugs from Matalan or wherever and they can be totally his. Then you won't stress so much when they sit festering in his room and if he wants to bin them rather than wash them after a couple of months, it's no real loss.

RandomMess · 05/08/2012 20:45

British Heart foundations did some nice ones, think I got mine via Whittards...

LadySybildeChocolate · 05/08/2012 20:45

There are companies which sell spare crockery for people who have dropped a plate etc. Smile

maras2 · 05/08/2012 20:45

Sorry Vic,just more sympathy from me too.Glad that you've sorted his place at uni though. If you did make him pay for the mugs, wouldn't he just help himself to your bank card again?Sorry to try to teach Vic to suck eggs.Best wishes Mx.

VicarGoingForGoldInKungFu · 05/08/2012 20:46

oh yes! this alternate reality that is ours fallen.....im glad im in good company however selfish that makes me!

BTW I once threw away a plate of my mums because I'd left some chicken on it in my room, went out for several weeks and it grew hair Shock

I couldn't face washing it or telling my mum that's where the plate she'd been yelling about had gone so I binned it

Just letting you know so you can see that even dirty horrible plate-binners can grow up to become terribly terribly sophisticated MNers Grin

McHappyPants2012 · 05/08/2012 20:46

Had to lol at he wouldn't chuck the run in the mill mugs ( sorry) well get him to replace them. Could you upload a picture of the mug MN are fab at finding replacements

FallenCaryatid · 05/08/2012 20:47

'at least your drawers were put to use'

Yurssss. Just what the world needs, more modern art of the 'Is it a Turner Prize entry, or have the bin men not been yet?' variety.
Where is Saatchi when you need him?

VicarGoingForGoldInKungFu · 05/08/2012 20:48

Grin fallen

Oh dear aspergers? My 9 year old has just been diagnosed with it, I have all this to come don't I?
I'm finding the matter of fact hurtful comments hard enough along with his massive attitude, I think i would go bonkers if he trashed my suff.

I agree if it's not uni then a job and a house share.

Badvoc · 05/08/2012 20:53

Vicar - does he know that come sept he is it of yourmhome, uni or not?
I am awed by your strength and humour.
I hoe it all works out for you and your ds.

FallenCaryatid · 05/08/2012 20:53

'Quite how either of you haven't throttled your offspring I'm not quite sure.'

Mine doesn't usually make the same mistake twice, once it's been explained and new strategies and choices have been put in place. It;s just that he's so good at making new and different mistakes all the time.
Endlessly mystifying, which is why I've called it living in the Looking-Glass World for so long, reality itself becomes distorted.
Vic's boy has tested her far more than mine has me though, mine hasn't helped himself to unattended money for years and thanks to Vic, I've already had the talk about bank cards and that seems to have worked too.

FallenCaryatid · 05/08/2012 20:55

He's got a list of my possessions that he wants to inherit when I die, the things he feels his sister wouldn't appreciate in the same way. He adds to it occasionally.Grin

RandomMess · 05/08/2012 20:56

A bet you didn't know what an absolute genius you had at "making new and different mistakes all the time" Grin

VicarGoingForGoldInKungFu · 05/08/2012 20:57

going off line for a mo.......ill be back.

unplugging the internent....he is being a PITA right this moment and the only thing that remotely works is taking away interent access......

Pets, you've met one Aspie, you've met one Aspie.
Your child may turn out to be a completely different combination to mine or Vic's, you'll just have to wait and see.
Although hurtful comments are not usually said with intent to hurt.

RandomMess · 05/08/2012 20:58

Fallen you ought to share the gems off this list of his Wink

FallenCaryatid · 05/08/2012 21:01

Not anything a burglar would take Random; carvings, crystals and inlaid boxes and specific items of cutlery and crockery. That sort of think. He's very tactile/visual.

RandomMess · 05/08/2012 21:09

I was half expecting some far more strange requests tbh.
