AIBU to want to hang out on Mumsnet?

YouBloodyWolf · 04/08/2012 08:36

I'm a man.

This place reminds me of a great forum I hung out on for years before Facebook took everything over - it's witty, intelligent, kinda brutal but friendly and decent. Certainly nothing like the forums over at Men's Health or anywhere like that.

I'm not on the pull, always enjoyed the company of women, got 2 kids. Should I bog off and find a place with more Y chromosomes? Am I going to be like one of those creepy blokes at playgroups? I've already posted to ask for advice under a pseudonym and was touched by the support.

Yes Madge but not if you rink the risk of scaring away the poor sensitive ickle man.

FWIW OP there are plenty of men on here, the vast majority of them are delightful, I'm sure there are a good proportion who don't out themselves as men for whatever reason, that's the beauty of the Internet.

But please don't expect some sort of chufty badge.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/08/2012 08:54

FUCK that sounded so wrong!

Blush

erm.. you know what I meant.

ScrambledSmegs · 04/08/2012 08:54

Welcome OP. Relax, enjoy, be silly. Don't take AIBU too seriously and I hope you enjoy it here Smile Gin helps with that bit Grin.

BTW Why are blokes at playgroups creepy? It's yummy-daddy central round here, I like having different people to chat to.

SoleSource · 04/08/2012 08:55

Hi Wolf welcome to MN.

ElephantsCanRemember · 04/08/2012 08:56

Wow, talk about posters reading an opening post completely differently.

MadgeHarvey · 04/08/2012 08:56

I am not buggering well troll hunting. I am saying something sounds odd - that does not a troll hunt make. Anyway - you get on with it and I'll watch from the sidelines.

ScrambledSmegs · 04/08/2012 08:56

Yes, I realise that was a bit sexist, but truly some of the dads around here are HOT Blush. Including my own DH of course Grin

serotoninbutterfly · 04/08/2012 08:56

NicholasTeakozy · 04/08/2012 09:01

Creepy blokes at playgroups?

My first job was in a playgroup/creche. For that you get a harumph. A very indignant one at that.

I repeat. Harumph.

Tee2072 · 04/08/2012 09:02

Grin ABF

NagooingForGold · 04/08/2012 09:03

I wish I could say my foot in mouth disease is a one off but I fear it's terminal. Blush

OlympiaMumsnet · 04/08/2012 09:06

Hello OP and welcome, and no, we don't mind anyone joining Mumsnet as long as they stick to our guidelines

Thanks and welcome
Grumpla - sorry, we deleted your otherwise not unreasonable post due to the personal attack contained therein. The strikethrough is really meant for witticisms and not that sort of thing.
Thanks

MNHQ

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/08/2012 09:06

BURN!

YouBloodyWolf · 04/08/2012 09:09

Bloody hell, were you all lying in wait?

Thanks for the welcome. The creepy bloke thing was clumsily put. As I was writing my post I was suddenly reminded of a couple of dads at playgroups I used to take DD to, who were in a state of obvious ecstasy at being surrounded by women. There were others who weren't at all creepy.

Madge - didn't understand the 'genuine' thing - what would I be doing if I wasn't genuine?

Got to start the day now. I'll be back Grin

What's FTFO btw?

rockinastocking · 04/08/2012 09:10

I don't think OP meant ALL blokes at play groups are creepy. Just that he didn't want to come across like one of the creepy ones.

They do exist...I've met 'em. Met lots of nice normal ones too. Which I'm sure you are, Wolf.

Welcome to the Hotel California - you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave Grin

serotoninbutterfly · 04/08/2012 09:11

Fuck The Fuck Off (I think)

Grin
rockinastocking · 04/08/2012 09:11
