To let ds1 (12) camp in garden with his friend (Also 12)

Dh is sleeping in lounge and back door unlocked. Tent is literally outside the door on the decking. Backgate is locked. Garden is overlooked by horseshoe of neighbours and it is enclosed by houses.

I just seen the other thread with 5 year old and now im shitting myself concerned I may have made stupid mistake.

They are still awake and absolutely having a riot with midnight feasts, torches and psp's and gadgetry.

I'm trying to hold back from coaxing them back in the house to sleep. Dh says they'll be fine and to leave them to it. They both have their bears for cuddling protection.

Ds2 (4) pretend camped and had hot chocolate and story in tent then fell asleep in my bed in sleeping bag.

I know what you mean but they will be ok. They may abandon the tent for the house shortly.

QOD007 · 03/08/2012 22:57

HUGE difference between. 2 x 12 yr olds and DH downstairs and 5 yr old alone

My dd did it at 12 with a friend

Sirzy · 03/08/2012 22:58

Sounds like they are going to have a great night. Just hope none of you plan on sleeping Grin

QuacksForDoughnuts · 03/08/2012 23:00

Two high school age kids are very different from one five year old on her own, so don't worry.

WelshMaenad · 03/08/2012 23:01

God, I think I camped up the pony club fields with friends at that age. Twelve is different to five. You're fine.

ItsAPileOfBalls · 03/08/2012 23:01

I agree with QOD007

I did this when I was about 6 but there was also my sis who was 11 and my older bro who was 16.

No way would I let a 5yo camp out alone!

storytopper · 03/08/2012 23:01

My 2 DSs started to camp out in our back garden at age 12. Seems Ok to me. Usually they had friends with them - 2 tents. They had been in Cubs/Scouts and were used to camping. Neither or them ever slept out alone.

I would never let a five year old camp out alone.

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:02

They are bloody loud neighbours will hate me. I won't get much sleep with baby and ds2 anyway. I'll be sending ds2 out to wake them at 7ish Grin

Two 12 YOs sound fine unless you're leaving your backgarden light switched on half the night and it's shining into an old blokes bedroom window

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:03

They are scouts... They wanted to make a campfire Hmm that was a no

timetosmile · 03/08/2012 23:04

I'm planning a 12,9 and 4 together in a tent in the garden...not seen the other thread....what's the probem?

Mind you OP I suspect your two won't be getting any sleep before 3am uness the torch batteries run out sooner

Sirzy · 03/08/2012 23:04

Lol you spoil sport!

CrapBag · 03/08/2012 23:04

Two 12 year olds with your DH just inside the door is a world away from the 5 year old outside on her own.

They will have a great time and I wouldn't worry about the neighbours. Its only 1 night and they will go to sleep at some point. Grin

CrikeyOHare · 03/08/2012 23:07

12 is not 5.

They'll have a really great time. Wish my DS had done more stuff like that when he was younger.

Think saying no to the campfire is a wise move, though Grin.

WorraLiberty · 03/08/2012 23:08

Why is your DH sleeping in the lounge?

12 is so not a problem

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:09

His friend had bought 'woman in black' to watch .. I vetoed that. He then offered for me and dh to watch... I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to horrors with children in, so politely refused.

I can still hear them gassing ... Gonna tell them to go to bloody sleep.

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:09

worral cos I have a bed full of baby and 4 year old... And he snores. It's the norm for us Grin

OP posts:
SparklingGoldMedals · 03/08/2012 23:10

I was assuming your DH was sleeping downstairs due to the unlockedness nature of the back door?

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:11

He a actually prefers sofa (it's huge and leather) He says it's more comfy and more space (not the few inches on the edge of mattress) and he doesn't get woken by baby or ds2

OP posts:
BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:12

Well he probably would sparky if he wasn't already

OP posts:
SparklingGoldMedals · 03/08/2012 23:14

What's the weather forecast for tonight Bunt? Is your DH going to be rudely awoken to bail the tent out? Grin

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:32

Spark Clear till 7am, then heavy rain Grin

I'm in comfy bed dream feeding dd and fs2 curled up against my back. It's heaven

OP posts:
SparklingGoldMedals · 03/08/2012 23:34

BuntCadger · 03/08/2012 23:39
