Crying in the middle of the point, 17-16 in the final set of the semifinal, do people have no sense???

You can pee at the change of ends, every 15 minutes or so usually.

Since a sleeping baby can't be expected to remain sleeping it shouldn't be there at all.

miaowmix · 03/08/2012 20:18

are people serious... babies being left out of the Olympics? I believe I have now heard it all. height of lunacy.

StunningCunt · 03/08/2012 20:18

And yes, comparing a £5.50 showing of Batman to tennis players with a lifelong dream is a bit silly tbh. Oh dear, a baby cried in the cinema. Never mind. You will get over it.

FeakAndWeeble · 03/08/2012 20:19

My babies NEVER interrupted the viewing. If you know what you are doing and sit by the exit there is no problem

Oh God, I wish I knew what I was doing. I didn't realise that if one knew what one was doing you could just get them to shut up immediately or never make noise in the first place.

( Hmm )

ilovesooty · 03/08/2012 20:21

Babies being "left out"? They're hardly likely to remember the occasion in later life.

And no one mentioned "the Olympics" as a wholesale thing: the point was made that a tennis match is not where they should be.

AnnieLobeseder · 03/08/2012 20:22

Why should babies miss out? Because they're babies and don't have a clue what's going on. I'm not even taking my 4yo to the Olympics because she'll be bored after 10 mins and it's not fair on either her or the other people who have paid to see sport, not listen to her whining.

Why should parents of small children miss out? No need. Just get a baby sitter!

There are events in this world which are appropriate for small children and events which are not. People who can't tell the difference and lug their small children along are selfish knobbers and have no consideration for anyone but themselves.

ilovesooty · 03/08/2012 20:22

Sorry GreyGardens - my post was addressing the one on the previous page.

GhostShip · 03/08/2012 20:26

If someone had stayed with their baby whilst it was crying for the first twenty minutes of Batman I'd be after lynching them. That film was so good ;)

Admittedly it isn't the same as a Olympic match or sporting thing, but still the selfishness on the mothers part is there.

SirBoobAlot · 03/08/2012 20:26

Okay so babies can miss about - what about the parents? What if they haven't got anyone else to leave baby with? Why should they miss out?

Christ on a bike, if you're annoyed about a baby being in public, then maybe you shouldn't go out again. Ever. Because one of them might cry Shock

Floggingmolly · 03/08/2012 20:27

Why the actual fuck should babies get left out . Grin. Says it all really...
Were you there, by any chance, Posterofapombear?

StunningCunt · 03/08/2012 20:27

It's nothing to do with being annoyed at babies in public, it's basic respect for the players who you and thousands of others are paying to see, because they are the best in the world.

i wish i had thought of taking ds to the cinema when he was a tiny baby he was so content and no doubt woudl have slept through. too late now he ruined The Muppets for me :(

i saw lots of babies in slings and toddlers at the olympic park the other day which i think is great. i took ds (4)to basketball i choose this as i knew if he got a case of verbal diarrhea it would not matter too much and lots of constant action but there are some sports that i think it is best to take children who understand they have to be quiet at times tennis is one of them

Floggingmolly · 03/08/2012 20:28

No, it's not in public people are objecting to Boobalot Hmm

GhostShip · 03/08/2012 20:29

Sirboobalot it is that persons choice to have a baby, and surely to god there's a babysitter available somewhere. Don't ruin someone else's day/night/film/dream/whatever because you can't bear to be without child.

MattDamonIsMyLover · 03/08/2012 20:30

SirBoobAlot - you are missing the point. Would you take your baby to work? You wouldn't want to miss out on it and maybe you have no child care organised. This conversation is getting silly.

Olympia2012 · 03/08/2012 20:31

sirboobalot nice attitude, not! Sure the parents can manage with catching the highlights on tv? Doubt it's the only sacrifice they have made whilst becoming parents!

marquesas · 03/08/2012 20:31

The cost of the seat for the semi final must have been expensive so you'd think it would have been bought by someone who actually wanted to watch the tennis.

And if that was the case they should certainly know better than to take a baby or even a child under 10.

Tennis matches can go on a long time and unless you're a real fan I can't see a child being able to sit still and quietly for long enough.

OP - YANBU, a totally selfish and entitled think to do.

Iggly · 03/08/2012 20:31

YABU
The best man won the game. That's the main thing.

ilovesooty · 03/08/2012 20:32

People don't have a divine right to tote their babies to inappropriate places.

VolAuVent · 03/08/2012 20:33

YABU. If children under a certain age aren't welcome then they shouldn't let them in in the first place.

sayanythingrogerjustrogerme · 03/08/2012 20:34

There was a toddler shouting daddy daddy during a Federer break point, which he failed to convert - but maybe Fed is used to that, with the twins and everything.

GhostShip · 03/08/2012 20:34

They probably expect people to entertain a certain amount of common sense.

miaowmix · 03/08/2012 20:37

ilovesooty I think we are in agreement Grin.
I'm not annoyed about babies in oublic, just think they ruin it for others at important sporting events! Plus, you know, babies don't give a fuck. Get a babysitter if you care that much.

StunningCunt · 03/08/2012 20:37

You can hear the baby crying here:

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/2012/live-video/p00w3070 4:38:30 for about 2 minutes. It goes on for quite a while.

It was the longest match in Olympic history and after this distraction it was over within 5 minutes.

Whoever it was should be ashamed and disgraced.
