To think when they say "Inspire a Generation", they didnt have people in their thirties in mind.

I am officially inspired.
I want to win a medal.
Am 35, so have eliminated all but shooting. Am off to buy a gun.

Good Luck with that.

DS has been inspired to try fencing and now I have to pay £60 for the starter course Hmm

Fuzzymuzz · 03/08/2012 01:20

I am there with you - though I still have a longing to swing round the bars in gymnastics! Not sure I'd make it to team gb at 31?
Could do swimming and try and beat 'Eddie the Eel's' slowest time (and have about as much style...)

Oh I was wondering how that worked and it worked, just like that!

Homebird8 · 03/08/2012 01:44

I'm officially inspired. Started training my PC muscles on Wednesday! Grin

bluehippo · 03/08/2012 01:47

Chris Hoy is 36 and one equestrian lady is 50 plus. So you can try cycling and/or horse riding. probably cheaper to buy a gun

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 01:49

Fruit that is funny - go for it. You might be stood on that podium in 4 years time. Hopefully you will also be inspired to do the best in your life too.

NoComet · 03/08/2012 02:20

My knees hurt when I cycle and I fall of horses on the level, so it would have to be shooting for me too.

However, they would be better inspiring DH. He won the works clay competition having never done it before. Years of practice with the shutter lag on his ancient camera.

meditrina · 03/08/2012 03:00

One of the women rowers only took it up a few years ago (after an ad looking for more people to give it a go) and that's one which you can stay in the top flight for decades. Are you near a river?

balotelli · 03/08/2012 06:08

one of the Japanese Dressage competitors is 71!

So there is hope for all of us.

Except the fact that I hate horses inspite of my name meaning Lover of Horses!

futureunknown · 03/08/2012 06:34

How about archery?

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 03/08/2012 07:26

I am 52 but fancy archery.
Rio with a zimmer.

PigeonPie · 03/08/2012 07:36

Archery is a good one - my late DGrandfather was still competing (albeit not at any high level) into his 80s.

My DS1 (6) wants to do canoeing and gymnastics. DS2 just wants to do everything!

diddl · 03/08/2012 07:37

I´m nearly 50 & fancy taking up fencing.

Dd1 has been inspired....she wants a wheelchair Hmm

VolAuVent · 03/08/2012 07:42

Only people under 25 can want to learn anything new, didn't you know?

ILiveInAPineapple · 03/08/2012 07:44

My DS (age 4) wants to take up 10m synchronised diving!! slightly very nervous mother emoticon

Lovelynewboots · 03/08/2012 08:13

Could we start a campaign to make darts an olympic sport, you can't beat a bit of bully Grin

icecold · 03/08/2012 08:17

Bloody darts shouldn't be a sport at all let alone an Olympic sport

Whatmeworry · 03/08/2012 08:22

I like that GB is good at sports that require sitting down, that's a good start :)

WendevilleAndManlock · 03/08/2012 08:26

I have broken several shooting world records this week at London 2012 Mario and Sonic on the Wii

EdithWeston · 03/08/2012 08:34

DD wants to take up fencing and, after watching both gymnastics and dressage, wants to try both together ie voltige (eek)

wigglybeezer · 03/08/2012 08:36

I think they should have a veterans Olympics in the vein of the Paralympics. I want to try cycling or triathlon.
