To feel a little bit sorry for Kristen Stewart?

Because yes, she made a mistake and a pretty big one at that.

BUT

She is just 22 and obviously quite immature. He is a 41 year old married father of two kids. He is a relative unknown so a few months down the line, he will disappear from public view whereas she is very famous and she will be scrutinized a lot more for a lot longer.

I know she's done a bad thing but would you want to be judged forever on the actions of your 22 year old self?

I don't hate her or feel sorry for her. It's nobody's business really, is it, exceprt for the people involved. If I feel sorry for anybody - and that's more the 'pity' end of sorry, it's for the sector of public that slathers over this kind of rubbish, it really is beyond pathetic.

cantspel · 02/08/2012 15:47

I dont get why people think he is the worst as he is married. Kristen was still living with RP so just as bad as cheating on a husband or do people see those who have choosen not to marry as being in a less committed relationship?

And i cant see how people think just because he is older he is more to blame. It could well be her who did the chasing. Who are we to know.

Either way it is none of our business as we are not directly effected by any of it.

ChickensArentEligableForGold · 02/08/2012 15:50

I get what you're saying, but she's such a bad acting, pretty-but-miserable looking baggage that I just can't summon up any sympathy. This might be because I spent the entire Twilight film hoping that Bella would die

Phacelia · 02/08/2012 15:50

I am very Hmm about this. She has been followed round by paps for years. Everywhere she goes, they follow. So she knew when kissing him in that car that there was a huge chance she'd be photographed.

It smacks of a)a publicity stunt, or b)self-sabotage; a way out of her relationship with the Twilight guy or something. It just doesn't make sense.

I do feel sorry for her, yes, but more sorry for both their respective partners. I just hate this whole demonising of women. She made a mistake. It's his fault as much as hers, in fact the balance of power was probably in his favour in this situation in that he is a director (has influence over her career) and much, much older than her.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 02/08/2012 15:58

I think a couple who are young and live together but refuse to publically say they are in a relationship and don't have any kids probably aren't as committed as someone who is married and does have kids.

If KS was running around saying we're going to be together 4EVA and totally monogamous and in the process of adopting triplets it would be a bit different.

HipHopSkipJumpomous · 02/08/2012 16:02

I'm leaning towards believing the rumour that the R-Patz/K-Stew relationship was a fix and this unfaithfulness has been orchestrated by all involved to 'break them up' so they can be freed from the charade and get on with their lives as squillioniares.

But God forbid I should be judged now for things I did when I was 22.

PamBeesly · 02/08/2012 16:07

No she is an idiot for what she has done but I believe the real rat is the married man and father. But because she is a woman it is her who will be hung out to dry

UserNameNotAvailable · 02/08/2012 16:14

I feel sorry for her but sometimes think it's a publicity stunt then I think surely they would wait until after Breaking dawn Part 2 in November to do something controversial as having an affair and humiliating RPatz as I think it has upset a lot of fans and when they do all the red carpet premiere stuff they are all usually laughing, smiling and hugging for the press but this will be awkward, either keeping the two main characters apart or having them pose together with false grins (unless they have made up)

They'd better sort it though so I can go to the midnight screening and still believe they are as happy off screen as they are on Grin

squoosh · 02/08/2012 16:16

Isn't all the Twilight stuff coming to a close?

If so well then her 'people' are probably telling her she needs a more adult, sexy persona as her moody teenager thing has gone as far as it can go.

Anything goes in Hollywood.

HipHopSkipJumpomous · 02/08/2012 16:39

Phacelia said it all very well

CommaChameleon · 02/08/2012 16:46

I don't feel sorry for her because she was in Twilight and because she only has one very sour facial expression and I don't feel sorry for the other one because he was in Twilight and has only one very miserable facial expression but I do feel sorry for the directors wife and their children.

porcamiseria · 02/08/2012 16:52

I feel sorry for her too

from a human POV not only has she made a huge fuck up, but the world hates her fot it!!!!

CleoSmackYa · 02/08/2012 17:15

I think they're both a pair of shitbags.

Tizzylizzy · 02/08/2012 19:55

I feel very sorry for her. Everyone makes mistakes.

50shadesofstress · 02/08/2012 19:58

God some of the things I did when I was young were pretty horrible with regards to boyfriends etc but I was young and immature and would be mortified if everyone knew and judged me on it.

This will be mentioned for many years to come no doubt. Still out of order cheating though and she should have known she would get caught out being so much in the limelight!

Mrsjay · 02/08/2012 20:02

I think it has all gone over dramatic I dont even think they slept together but he is married so it isnt right, I dont feel sorry for her though, some 22 yr olds are married with children she knew what she was doing,

CommaChameleon · 02/08/2012 20:06

It's interesting actually to compare this to the Anthea Turner threads.

Anthea isn't getting a great deal of sympathy. It has been mentioned that she was also married when she went off with Bovey, but more people seem to resent her on Della's behalf than Peter's.

And now Bovey has cheated on her, people still dislike her and say "what goes around comes around" and "karma has got her in the end", even though this time, so far as we know, Anthea hasn't cheated on anyone.

Yet Kristen has cheated and we are (mostly) feeling sorry for her. If it helps, I don't care and am not judging her for it. I did judge her for the "retarded" comment she made about her fans though.

"I just didn't pay attention," said Stewart. "I was like, 'You guys are celebrating something that has not come true yet. So, you are really retarded and have nothing to do with this creative process and I really don't want to hear you celebrate in front of me. Get out of here! It's my responsibility!'"

When talking about the excitement some people felt about the forthcoming Twilight films.

It's not just the cheating that has presented her as a bitter, selfish, nasty person, it's behaviour and comments like that.

GhostShip · 02/08/2012 20:29

YABU. I'm 21 in September, I'm an adult as well as she is so her age is nothing. Nothing to do with being immature, she knows what she was doing is wrong. Especially with a married man with kids. It's all a bit convenient anyway for my liking...

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 02/08/2012 20:59

I don't feel sorry for her, I do think she's a cunt But i thought that before But i think death threats are way OTT and unnecessary.

Mrsjay · 02/08/2012 21:02

E news is having a field day with this, apparently they are fighting for the dog .

EclecticShock · 02/08/2012 21:02

22 is young but I don't feel sorry for her... Better to learn the lesson now than later. Plus cheating with a married man wih kids is never excusable IMO.

Xales · 02/08/2012 21:11

To be honest I don't actually give a flying frog what she has done. However...

She has been in the public eye for more than a few years.

She knew he was married.

She knew that she was followed all over the place by people with cameras.

Only an idiot would think they could get away with that and not be caught under those circumstances.

As such I don't have any sympathy for her or the director for getting caught at all.

lastnerve · 02/08/2012 21:27

No sympathy,

she is a 22 year old ADULT, there are 22 year olds married with kids she just needs to grow up.

Tizzylizzy · 02/08/2012 21:50

So she's not allowed to make a mistake? Human beings aren't perfect. As long as she's sorry for it and learns from it.

MrsRyanLochte · 02/08/2012 23:12

Being 22 is no excuse whatsoever. I feel really sorry for Liberty and Robert, been in their shoes and it's truly shit. BUT I really feel for Kristen having to face all the twi-hards at the BD2 promo stuff in the fall; I don't think she dealt with that whole side of it particularly well anyway and now it's going to be a million times worse.

As an aside, I was watching the extras from Eclipse today where Kristen and Rob talk over the film. Kristen's take on the Bella/Jacob/Edward dynamic was very different to Rob's (she was defending Bella's actions in that scene on the mountain when she snogs Jacob's face off). Interesting and rather ironic/portentious given current circs.
