Because yes, she made a mistake and a pretty big one at that.

BUT

She is just 22 and obviously quite immature. He is a 41 year old married father of two kids. He is a relative unknown so a few months down the line, he will disappear from public view whereas she is very famous and she will be scrutinized a lot more for a lot longer.

I know she's done a bad thing but would you want to be judged forever on the actions of your 22 year old self?

Sex scandals do not haunt celebs.

Her PR people will be gleefully rubbing their hands.

Shelly32 · 02/08/2012 14:59

The thing I don't get is why if she's so private about her realationship with RP and has never confirmed it, would she issue a public apology to him? Surely it just fans teh flames and adds insult to injury...running out of cliches to use to explain myself

thebody · 02/08/2012 15:00

Are they in the tedious DVD our dds made us watch last night, the first one in series.

Me and dh had to get drunk to see the end and I now have a headache.

Silly girl and what a pathetic old bloke.

squoosh · 02/08/2012 15:00

Hollywood people are ambitious people.

MarysBeard · 02/08/2012 15:00

Meh. People in glass houses.

GetOrfMoiRing · 02/08/2012 15:00

YANBU, christ no, but I think the whole thing from the start has been a publicity stunt anyway.

But she is so young. That level of fame must be a nightmare.

I think those insane Twilight fans are the young equivalent of the Princess Diana nutcases who read the Daily Express.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 02/08/2012 15:01

she was good years ago in Panic Room....I havent seen any of the Twilight films, look pretty crap though from what I've seen.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/08/2012 15:01

I'm sure I read an article just the week before but it was in the Daily Mail so who knows how factual it was that she wished she could have more tragedy and drama in her life - so tbh I think she's sort of subconsciously engineered the situation tbh. For that reason, YABU!

blueemerald · 02/08/2012 15:05

Feel sorry for her? Hell no, if you want to feel sorry for anyone (I don't but hey) feel sorry for his wife and children.

squoosh · 02/08/2012 15:07

I know I've posted this before but can you imagine having millions of people just like this girl here as your biggest fan?

BupcakesandCunting · 02/08/2012 15:09

I will never tire of that video, squoosh. Grin

Photo's were obviously staged, why have sympathy for those who publicly arrange to be caught? Horrible for their partners though.

DuelingFanjo · 02/08/2012 15:15

I think there is something really horrible about someone having their life exposed by a pap like this, even though they are willingly in the public eye for their 'craft'. It still must be awful for her to know that probably most of what she is doing is being captured by the lense and could be published anywhere for all to see.

Were they staged? By who? Him? for publicity? Without their partners knowledge?

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 02/08/2012 15:16

I think that:

a) if anyone is a shit-head it's him, although clearly she was not being super-moral her mistake was not nearly as bad as his iykwim.
b) it's probably a good thing if all the Twilight fans decide they hate her, since she can get on and do other things now.

Which makes me think... fake.

(But, wow, tolerant wife of director bloke if it was a set-up!)

OlivesTorchStreak · 02/08/2012 15:22

She is a silly girl, but the PR team must love her.... relationship with Twilight co-star, affair with Snow White director... can't wait to see what she does when her next film comes out.

I hope it isn't a documentary about baboons. Grin

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 02/08/2012 15:23

I am thinking that half this stuff is actually carefully scripted, actors act in films and then celebrities act at real life, and then there cocooned within are the publicists working out where there needs to be a bit of a scandal - because Kristen was definitely getting the whole "wooden and boring" thing previously, and now she's a scarlet woman at the centre of a big controversy.

Sounds like the publicist was trying to avoid her being typecast in real life as well as in films.

MrsBucketxx · 02/08/2012 15:23

YABU rob pats and the wife are the people you should feel sorry for.

i feel that she paraded this new relationship outdoors knowing she would be papped, its an easy way not to break it to RP isn't it.

i really dislike her anyway, she never smiles and looks like she needs a good meal.

gobblegobs · 02/08/2012 15:25

YANBU.
She is young and probably awestruck by his directorial authority. She will probably regret the stupidity
HE was the one married.
If anyone wrecked a home, its HIM.

BupcakesandCunting · 02/08/2012 15:26

I do feel sorry for RPats or whatever he is called and the wife. I can feel sorry for multiple people.

OP posts:
Yama · 02/08/2012 15:27

I do not feel sorry for her

BUT

I am saddened by the media coverage. I see him as the villain of the piece. He cheated on his wife. He is the one with kids. He is the one who abused his position. Yet she gets the blame. Nice.

Dprince · 02/08/2012 15:28

I think it was a publicity stunt.
Her and her 'bf' have never confirmed that they are a couple, rarely seen together etc. But she snogs a married man in the street and in her car in full view of anyone passing by. She is followed all the time, why would you?
I personally don't think they were ever an actual couple and it was all for the twilight films. Which are ending later this year. I think this is so she can try and distance herself from twilight and get 'better' roles. Although, she really needs to be better at acting to get better roles. But Hollywood has its own rules.

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 02/08/2012 15:28

According to my highly placed sources Jackie Collins and Olivia Goldsmith books all lead actresses have a thing with the director.

Also I was a total knobber at 22 and I didn't have the world watching me.

BelieveInPink · 02/08/2012 15:31

PR, PR, PR.

mirry2 · 02/08/2012 15:31

If Rpatz and her get back together I don't hold out much hope of it lasting as he has stated publically in the past that he can't understand or tolerate cheating and for him a relationship is for life. I would think that this would eat away at their relationship.

Katielouise26 · 02/08/2012 15:37

I really feel for her (I feel for all concerned really). It was obviously a mistake and we all make them. ALL of us. It's a pretty crappy thing to do especially as they appeared (obviously not knowing them personally!) in love and private and just generally a happy couple.

Death threats and this hate campaign is a joke. I am a massive Twilight fan and think Robert Pattinson/Edward (I don't know the lines between reality and fiction are getting blurred where twilight is concerned!) is utterly gorgeous but I feel sick for her thinking that her whole career could be ruined by this. It's cruel.

What it must be like to be perfect and able to judge others!
