how's it hanging, Boris?

This is what makes the Olympics so very, very British.

"With more than a week and half to go, it remains to be seen where he will pop up and precisely what he will do.

Some may have sympathy with the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes who recently confided to the Independent that he was scared Johnson would "do something crazy when he hands over the flag". "He's crazy," said Paes, whose city will host the 2016 Olympic Games" - Grin

TheCraicDealer · 01/08/2012 21:12

I can't imagine aul Ken getting on a zip wire, never kind laughing when he got stuck.

RawShark · 01/08/2012 21:21

Thank you thank you thank you - I missed this.

People say Boris is clever - in which case everything I have ever heard him say makes him sound idiotic? If he ever gets PM I will cry.

DMCWelshCakes · 01/08/2012 21:40

Cheered up an otherwise dull day in my office.

BoJo as PM is a horrifying thought though.

PlumpDogdePodiumPunchesdeAir · 01/08/2012 21:51

More horrifying than DC, DMC. How can that be? (Genuine question.) Confused

WorraLiberty · 01/08/2012 21:56

If it was Cameron, the crowds would have treated him like a Pinata and beaten the crap out of him with sticks...to see if his money would fall to the ground Grin

Mrsjay · 01/08/2012 21:57

Ok did londeners vote for boris just for the giggles I am not a Londoner I bloody love him he is a loon Grin

WorraLiberty · 01/08/2012 21:58

I love Boris too...he's so eccentric Grin

PlumpDogdePodiumPunchesdeAir · 01/08/2012 21:58

Or for Cameron, a couple of Torch Torch underneath him and the unwashed masses could have enjoyed toasted marshmallows.

Mrsjay · 01/08/2012 22:03

I watched a docu thing about Boris and cameron they were in this old boys club at University It looked liked poor boris was bullied i felt sorry for him I know a feeling sorry for a tory Blush Grin

Foshizzle · 01/08/2012 22:14

I don't understand all the hair-ruffling fondness for Boris. He is not a decent chap or an eccentric buffoon. He's a liar, a philanderer, a bigot and a snob. We've just forgotten that he is all those things because he has an effective press team now.

Grrrr.

ColouringIn · 01/08/2012 22:21

Ah, the things you see when you don't have a gun handy.

Twat!

PlumpDogdePodiumPunchesdeAir · 01/08/2012 22:23

You speak sense, Foshizzle, but compared to the competition, he's a relatively efficient (and charming) liar, philanderer, snob... Which for all their press teams etc. his competitors seemingly aren't.
'hair ruffling fondness' stems from desperation, I think - a desperate need to feel something better than contempt and despair at a mainstream politician.

Mrsjay · 01/08/2012 22:23

TBH foshzizzle I am not a Londoner and not a Tory Voter i just see what i see on the news

Hassled · 01/08/2012 22:29

This Guardian blog seems to think he's in with a shout at leadership. Says he's the darling of the centrist Tories. He does scare me a little bit - right about many things (his fury about the cap on housing benefit) but you have to wonder what he's hiding behind the whole buffoon act.

ItsAPileOfBalls · 01/08/2012 22:30

YANBU

PlumpDogdePodiumPunchesdeAir · 01/08/2012 22:32

Less than New Labour were hiding behind the Labour Party act, I suspect, Hassled.
And a great deal more than DC et al are capable of hiding in their useless empty skulls.

MrsMcNulty · 01/08/2012 22:32

YANBU I laughed at the news just now watching this.

Foshizzle · 01/08/2012 22:35

But most of what he actually says on camera is down to the super intelligent strategy and policy bods behind him. I'm not denying that he's well educated but that doesn't stop him being an arse and it certainly doesn't mean he's intelligent.

Foshizzle · 01/08/2012 23:07

Sorry to induce a lull in your thread Glittaknickaz. YANBU, by the way.

Aladdinsania · 01/08/2012 23:14

Yup, his politics are not my cup of tea - and I understand the anti BoJo comments 100 per cent. However I'm ashamed to say that he still makes me laugh..Blush

cranverry · 02/08/2012 00:48

I laughed a lot at this. He seems a good sport for laughing and joking about it rather than getting angry which is what a lot of people would have done. Not a massive Boris fan but I'd take him as PM over DC any day.
