"name calling, vandalism and assaults" are much worse in terms of criminality than a hoax call! Of course the effects of a hoax call could be catastrophic but I wouldn't expect a child to understand the implications.

Violence towards a real human being, is much more real and immediate.

I thought it was a hoax as soon as I heard the call, simply because of details like there is "court" in the street name. That is something only a much older child would think of. Also other details that were revealed seemed too much to expect from a three year old, however clever. Maybe it's just my children at that age, but if they didn't know the answer to a question an adult asks (without a "Do you know?" in front) they'd just give any answer off the tops of their heads. Eg. Where do you live? Tesco. (True situation with DD2 btw)

I hope the girls get a VERY good talking to. Scaring them with a couple of very angry police officers about the waste of time and resources wouldn't be a bad idea. At that age they are plenty old enough to understand that what they did was completely unacceptable.

I listened to it earlier and thought it didn't add up. The child's voice changed on occassion and the way sentences were structured were not in the style of a three year old and the huge hesitation when asked her name.

They obviously had to make sure though, had this been my child I would have hit the roof.
