To think the Olympic ticket website is pants!?

They display events as available and then when you click on them they don't exist.

When tickets are finally added you spend 5 minutes a time on a "requesting tickets screen" whilst they check if they are available. Then get a "not available screen" even though they are still showing availability.

Why oh why is this website so pathetic? Ticketmaster manage to cope with whole tours selling out in minutes...

Just seen on twitter that 3,800 tickets were released last night and most are now sold. To put it into context, 580,000 people were at the Olympics yesterday and that is 86% of capacity.

yay that you got some tickets, TSG!

ajandjjmum · 02/08/2012 12:18

DD is working at the Olympic Park and people are getting very cross with her because the BBC said you can buy tickets at the Park. Apparently you can't.

So please don't shout at DD!

I've wasted hours clicking and waiting to be told nothing is available, and yet the same events are shown as available hours afterwards. Crap website.

I've just got Paralympic football tickets. Am delighted to finally have something and it's on the Park itself (it's in the hockey stadium). I've lost track of the hours I've spent on the stupid sodding website.

Can't resist still trying for my first choice, but whatever happens I am going to the Park yay!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 02/08/2012 14:07

I'm there too Angel! Got two lots of Paralympic tickets, one Excel day pass and then athletics, but was trying for anything that would get us into the park at some point before it closes!

It's quite wierd, I was determind before the games started that I would be staying away from London, especially that end of London. I had convinced myself there would be a terrorist attack. But since it started I can't get enough London, and would have considered selling my Granny for Olympic closing ceremony tickets!

AngelDelightIsIndeedDelightful · 02/08/2012 14:18

Nice one Outraged! Is your Granny worth much Grin

It's got to the point where I'd watch the opening of a packet of crisps if it got me a Park ticket. If only I'd been that lax in the first ballot! Was far too picky and only went for stuff I really wanted to see.

Butkin · 02/08/2012 14:37

Outraged - if your Granny sells for 995 pounds then you can buy tickets for the Closing Ceremony. I've just got as far as putting them in my basket and it told me seat numbers etc. Bailed out because I'm interested in sport!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 02/08/2012 15:49

I reckon I could get that for her, but I need four tickets.

She's worth it though, she makes awesome shortbread! Grin

doblet · 02/08/2012 17:24

Now I get why everyone is complaining. I've spent the day trying to get tickets - it's a seriously awful site

GlassofRose · 02/08/2012 18:03

Currently have olympic day passes on the website for 28th July Hmm

Hate that website

Badminton came up tonight and I got some Smile So that's twice I've managed to get tickets today. I wonder if the majority of people have given up on it now.

mamasr · 02/08/2012 22:15

ah im so happy! following a few peoples success, i just tried it again not expecting anything and i've managed to get athletics tickets for next wednesday!

CatholicDad · 02/08/2012 22:41

Sorry, don't understand what you are talking about. We bought our weight lifting, fencing and taekwondo tickets off there six weeks ago without any problems at all! Has it been hijacked since or something?!

GlassofRose · 03/08/2012 00:32

Well done you Catholic dad Grin Biscuit onlyjoking

You select the tickets you want to add to your shopping list. Then you request the tickets... have to wait on a screen that says Requesting tickets this should take approx' 15 minutes and then after around half an hour you get a screen saying "No Tickets found"... then when you search again the tickets are still shown as available

I've spent all evening requesting athletic tickets ranging from £40 - 95... the only ones left are now £450 - 750 each. I added a 750 one in my basket to see if they have availability or whether it was a con. The site would let me have one and not two. Who on earth would pay £750 to go to the olympics alone?

I'm actually having withdrawal symptoms from the website. We are on holiday from the weekend so I'm forced to give up. But it was quite fun trying last minute and hoping Grin
