Have just heard that during the Olympic opening ceremony, when Sir Tim Berners-Lee was revealed, NBC commentators came out with "Who's he?" and told viewers that they would have to Google him to find out who he was! Which, ironically would have been impossible without his invention, Grin.

I got some Reese peanut butter syrup the other day, now I can make chocolate peanut butter thickshakes and if I close my eyes and imagine REALLY hard I can pretend I am in the Shake Shack.

gettingeasier · 31/07/2012 08:56

Ah, thought it would be something like that not really my thing Smile

MoreLithiumPlease · 31/07/2012 10:14

I'll tell you who are stupid.
People who like Hershey's chocolate.

Yes, all of you.

Tee2072 · 31/07/2012 10:19

I think that's chocolateist, MoreLithium. I'm reporting your post!*

*not really.

I did know who he is but I am the 'Trivia Useless Pieces of Information Queen'.

My sentences usually start, 'Now, I'd don't know how I know this but...'.

mumblecrumble · 31/07/2012 10:27

Yes. And you are being racist too

lambethlil · 31/07/2012 10:31

I was hoping this was going to be a thread about Mitt Romney. Sad

Frontpaw · 31/07/2012 10:34

He's funny. We will have a lot of fun with him is he ever became president. World politics hasn't been much fun since Berlosconi went.

GreenEggsAndNichts · 31/07/2012 10:35

Peanut butter syrup? Shock Was this in a normal shop in the UK, or was it from one of the American import shop/websites?

lambethlil · 31/07/2012 10:36

I so wanted to like him. I have a soft spot for Mormons.

Satire wise, if you liked Bush you'll love Romney!

Morloth · 31/07/2012 10:41

It was actually from a shop here in Oz.

My local veg shop is extending out into international foods.

PigletJohn · 31/07/2012 11:11

I'll tell you who are stupid.
People who like Hershey's chocolate.

No, Morelithium,

These are just people who have never tasted European chocolate.

theodorakis · 31/07/2012 11:14

Hershey's chocolate is horrid, I agree. But this is compensated by MARSHMALLOW FLUFF! Lushest thing ever, addicted to it. Must be the absolute nemisis of the no sugar mners though, it takes literally days to get the stickiness off ones fingers

metafarcical · 31/07/2012 11:23

Thanks for the American Soda link Tee. I've been half-heartedly looking for corn meal for a while.

tartyflette · 31/07/2012 11:26

Ah sure, I probably could, chipmonkey, as ILs are Irish, DH 2nd generation immigrant and DS considers himself half Irish (eg cld play rugby for Ireland under national selection rules. He should be so lucky.)

Point is, if you're struggling with a little basic Spanish in, say, Argentina, and they say "Inglese?" You reply "no, Irlandese," and the whole Falklands/Malvinas debate is avoided. Wink

Morloth · 31/07/2012 11:27

Corn meal is just semolina isn't it?

I always use semolina for corn bread etc.

tartyflette · 31/07/2012 11:32

Won't polenta do, Meta? (unless you want the white stuff.) It looks pretty much the same as masa harina to me. If it's cornmeal for corn bread, I've seen mixes in Selfridges food hall, and, I think, Bentalls in Kingston. Prolly horrendous price, tho.

GreenEggsAndNichts · 31/07/2012 11:53

If you like marshmallow fluff, and peanut butter, you need to make yourself a fluffernutter. Grin Use white bread, or something similarly tasteless as it's just a vehicle for the PB and fluff. I prefer them with smooth PB. Fluffernutters and coffee milk = stuff of legends.

theodorakis · 31/07/2012 11:55

That sounds amazing! Will try..we even have strawberry fluff at the moment!

GreenEggsAndNichts · 31/07/2012 12:08

oh wow Grin I can't vouch for it with strawberry, but with plain fluff it's lush. You do, of course, need to be able to appreciate a good sugar rush!

GreenEggsAndNichts · 31/07/2012 12:09

When did I branch out into poetry. Hmm

PeshwariNaan · 31/07/2012 12:35

I'm American and yes, some Americans are stupid, but so are some English people. It's not a one-nationality thing.

Having lived in the UK for awhile, I realise that US-bashing is always a crowdpleaser. Sometimes the bashing's fair, a lot of the time it's petty.
