Seriously though, does anyone else get fed up with seeing threads which are patently not AIBUs in this section?

No

Having said that.

If your question had been Does anyone get fed up with seeing this whine posted time and time again?

My answer would have been "Yes" Grin

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:18

Over - sorry I know I put something on your thread earlier, and I apologise for not getting back to you. Yes, YANBU. I see it was a mistake.

This a thread about threads, really. I have just hidden vast swathes of MN because I'm genuinely not interested in certain topics, yet people post in AIBU "for the traffic" all the time. Occasionally I do a Trills mention something. Sometimes I can't be arsed. There are a couple of others currently active that I felt tempted to wade into, but knew I'd probably get accused of being thread police.

Threads like this make me want to post a gazillion non-AIBU threads in AIBU Grin

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:20

Worra. That's because you only post in the section, so it must be a refreshing change to see some non AIBUs. Wink

TheThreadPolice · 29/07/2012 17:20

Now then, now then. What is going on here?

Hmm, thread about thread. Posting in wrong section.

bejeezus · 29/07/2012 17:23

But, WHY does it bother you?

AIBU is not a topic as such....its not like something is 'off topic' if you can't ask AIBU about it-lots of stuff is covered here

It's not like asking a q about sharks in the chicken keeping topic, or asking about the best lap dancing club in FWR...

usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 17:25

It bothers me as well.

I may go on a reporting spree

I got called the fucking miserable thread police yesterday , so think yourself lucky OP.

bejeezus · 29/07/2012 17:27

I think it may mean that you are a stickler for rules? Are you neat and super organised? A control freak?

I'm a bit of an anarchist, see Grin and an annoying fucker

usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 17:28

People get much more supportive answers in the correct topics.

Some poster only hang out in AIBU though.

bejeezus · 29/07/2012 17:29

PLUS...if you had the wherewithal and cba, you COULD dress owt up as an AIBU...

usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 17:30

Nah , I'm far from neat and organised.

I just find it odd that people cba to look for any other topics other than AIBU.

bejeezus · 29/07/2012 17:30

Sometimes you don't want support-just lots of opinions from lots of different people...

Maybe there should be a new sections, called just that...

LegoAcupuncture · 29/07/2012 17:30

Can we also do an A-Z of why threads are in the AIBU section?

A is for annoying everyone

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:31

In the grand scheme of things, it bothers me only a little. But obvious enough to start a thread, but I'm feeling unduly grumpy today.

My reasons are that if I log on to Aibu, I'm looking for debate, entertainment or a bit of rubbernecking at someone's dilemmas, and if I want to chat or get informed I'd go elsewhere on MN. It also feels like the OP is queue-jumping in some way. Yes, we've all had threads that have died a painful death in an obscure area, but if everyone posted them in Aibu then it would be horrendously cluttered.

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 29/07/2012 17:31

Yes but I have seen loads of threads that need supportive answers posted in AIBU.

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:34

Well there is WWYD, but it's a slow painful death in there. I know from experience.

FalseStartered · 29/07/2012 17:34

i get where you're coming from, mardy but if the thread OP is in need of more support/information and has been posted in AIBU, MNHQ will offer to move it

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:34

Sorry last comment was to bejeezus

SuePurblybilt · 29/07/2012 17:36

I'm with usual and mardy, it gets on my nerves.
And I don't think it is helping the people who do it either, considering so many posters don't venture into AIBU and so many others don't ever leave.

MardySkimpyBeachVolleyballBra · 29/07/2012 17:36

I would like to take this opportunity to applaud the chicken keepers. I have had their topic hidden for years and they have never once cluttered my screen with chicken-keeping dilemmas in unsuitable zones.
