For example.......

Me going up a hill. Cars parked the other side of the road.

Blatently obvious it is my right of wsy.

Silly cow in a car the size of a combine barreling down towards me.

I sat and shook my head.

She got angry and waved her arms around.

Oh how I enjoyed it.

When people keep coming at me when it's my right of way I stop far enough forward that they have to slow right down/stop and very carefully manouvre around me. Takes them more time than it would if they'd stopped and waited like they should have in the first place. This is particularly satisfying if they are driving great big 4WDs that they can't judge the size of. Wink

People who try to drive you down and force you to pull in when it's your right of way inspire epic amounts of stabbiness in me. I just drive at them, and smile irritatingly. Mind you, not many people are daft enough to take on my land rover in those situations Grin

When people try to force me to give way, when its my right....I just stop, get my handbag out in clear sight and start plinking on my phone, or get a hairbrush and brush my hair or even bring out the Kindle....basicly i make it very clear I wont be moving, and Im in no rush. They then have to reverse, and I glide past with a serene look of triumph on my face.

Surely if OP was going up the hill she has automatic right of way, despite (or including) the added fact the parked cars on the other side also indicates the driver on that side should give way. Win/win. Smile

NonAstemia · 03/08/2012 09:28

Er... Going up a hill does not give you automatic right of way scaredy!

I was towing my horse trailer with my car the other day and met a works van with trailer coming the other way, on a narrow road. The idiot driving it couldn't reverse (and was young enough to have supposed to have done a towing test) and I had to reverse my trailer, with horse in it, round a corner, downhill because he couldn't reverse into the passing place he'd just passed...

Bet he ranted to his workmates about "wimmin drivers" too...

scaredymcnamechange · 03/08/2012 22:39

You are supposed to give way to a driver coming up a hill. According to the HC anyway.

1 street where I live has on road parking with gaps which when cars are parked as they are 100% of the time is only wide enough for 1 car to drive down

99% of people know the give and take behaviour and it works well.

Then there is the 1%!! Last week is was a young lad in a small car, I was in my tank. I was already driving down the narrow bit when he started down it from the opposite end, no doubt expecting me to stop in a house entrance... I didn't , he was forced to go back and was furious, he called me some names!

I laughed at him as did my kids which set of of even more, worst was he seemed to have his mother/grandmother beside him.
