for reporting my manager

Advice very much appreciated. I work for an educational establishment. Last month we had a training session on managing students who mis-behave. My manager who i've always suspected was a racist made the following comments "the reason ethnic minorities hang around so much after class is because they know if they return home they will be forced to work in their shops". This was not said as a joke. Indeed, there were fifteen members of staff present, including someone who originated from the West Indies. This individual was rightly upset, hence, my decision to report the manager in question. The fact that he wasn't joking disturbs me even more.

I would like to ask those far clever than me whether or not I was correct in reporting this individual. Deep down, I know this statement is wrong. However, I find myself questioning myself. I'm afraid I am new on here, butr can assure you my concerns are very much genuine. If the matter is dismissed, who can I go to?

Narked ...... See an actual Argument with substance!! One sentence is all it takes to prove a point.

Off to bed now as my head hurts from the brick wall I've been banging it in.

Apologies to all I've offended.

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:18

Oh damn, dieting seems like such hard work. I always say i'll start tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:18

Tethers - pmsl - Chicken Tikka Masala (not really) Grin

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:19

Gin and slimline laughs right in my face these days tether, especially when i try to jump on the scales in the morning.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:21

It's bloody hard work Noqontrol - after a lifetime of replacing meals with fizzy pop and crisps/cake/sandwiches - my body is rebelling! Can't say how long I'll keep it up especially if I keep nabbing bits of the kids' ice-creams

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:23

Yeah i know. I polish off the kids leftovers too as i don't want to throw it away. I am rapidly expanding. What happened to the good old days when you could eat anything and still look relatively thin.

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:25

Stick at it. I'll start tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow will come this time :-) Night night.

Jillyhere · 27/07/2012 00:25

NarkedRaspberry. Like it. My thoughts exactly.

The term .lesbo. Is grossly offensive. A sackable offence at least.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:26

Ah you see Noqontrol - 'tis different for me. I was always a lard arse Grin Must admit that my arse is like the far side of the fucking moon now though - its depressing this getting older lark.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:30

You're right Sole - but I work for my Dad in his shop. He's not gonna sack me tho' innit.

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:31

Godamit. You know when people look in the mirror and they think they look fat? I always looked in the mirror and thought i looked thin. Until someone took a photo of me recently and i looked liked a beachball on sticks. You look like the moon? I look like the universe. But at least you're doing something about it.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:33

Oh bless you Noqontrol - I bet you're not as bad as you think. Actually I've lost half a stone in 3 weeks (mostly lost that in the first week). Weight loss isn't my aim but I'm hoping to catch a sight of my arse veeerrrry soon. I keep lurking on all the weight loss threads and drawing inspiration from there.

Must go to bed soon - small child will soon wake, which one is the question!

SoleSource · 27/07/2012 00:36

Not an answer and a parhtuc excuse for blatant prejudice.

Noqontrol · 27/07/2012 00:37

Well done for doing that. A good achievement. The weekend starts tomorrow, so monday i eat less and start catching a sight of my butt. (see tomorrow never comes, excuses excuses).
Ok i need to go to bed too, dd has a play on in the morning. Nice talking to you, speak again soon. Grin

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:41

Actually Sole, I was channelling my brother in my vernacular but feel free to take it personally. I get the distinct feeling that nothing I say will convince you that I'm anything other than that crazy ranting pc-gorn mad yet at the same time racist and generally prejudiced poster.

(am really not any of those things btw)

TheDreadedFoosa · 27/07/2012 00:48

SoleSource....what do you mean when you said that cash was 'doing you no favours'?

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:52

Night noqontrol - sorry I got sidetracked on the other thread re: Muslims and ramadan (just lurking, no ranting I promise!). good luck with the diet and good vibes for your DD tomorrow!

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 00:53

Yes Foosa - I must admit I was intrigued by that comment even though I may have been slightly ranty in my reply! Will lurk for possible reply from the sanctuary of my bed tho' - night all x

SoleSource · 27/07/2012 01:03

My Ds is an ethnic. I think Jily's version of racism is not worth bothering about. Attitudes need to change and there are far serious cases of racism to concentrate on.

SoleSource · 27/07/2012 01:04

And homophobia. Fattism etc

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 01:09

Ahem, it has come to my attention that I may have offended some posters in my post of 23.57 where I used the term "lesbo" to refer to myself. I wish to make it clear that I meant no offence in using that term and apologise for any ill feeling it may have caused. I understand that the post may be reported and subsequently deleted. I had no idea it was a derogatory term - as I said further down on the thread, you do learn something new on MN every day.

I shall not be reporting it myself although I regret using the term. I believe Canfit's complaint about the use of that term does not stem from any real offence but is merely a ruse to discredit my arguments.

Canfit - I'm disappointed you started another thread about it. I saw I really don't know why you're bothering - you think I'm ranting anyway and that I'm stupid and a hypocrite. I can honestly say that in my eight years of posting on MN, I've never ever come across this type of sniping and outright nastiness. It's a shame that Jillyhere's thread has been derailed as there were some valid points on both sides which are now lost in the gutter the arguments were dragged down to. Bad form, Canfit, very very bad form.

SoleSource · 27/07/2012 01:09

Dual heritage not ethnic.

Cashncarry · 27/07/2012 01:13

That's your point of view Solesource and you're absolutely entitled to it. My children will also have ethnic minority status and my view is that they should not have to deal with any type of racism, trivial or major, hidden or overt. It's all worth fighting against and I completely agree re: other forms of prejudice, they hold no lower "status" than racism and should be fought with equal vigour.

Your comments about me on the other thread are noted. Once again, I shall not be reporting your personal attacks but am disappointed you felt the need to stoop to that level as it seems we are agreed on some important points.

SoleSource · 27/07/2012 01:19

Im bi sexual. Your prejudice is grossly offensive and it is you that has stooped low by pretending not to know lesbo is as outdated as other terms.I expect plenty of prejudice from you now. I shall not return to this thread. Happy name calling to you.
