Hello,

I was on the the bus today and the bus had to stand on the brakes. My buggy fell over with my little one in it and my ipad broke as my bag etc on the buggy fell down too. The screen is broken and i just bought it two weeks ago.

Who covers the repair costs? Sorry for posting in AIBU, but I need a reply quickly.

...so when it breaks and it isn't my fault...

Whose fault do you think it might have been, though?

Sounds like bad luck to me; not something you could really blame on anyone else in the hope of screwing them for compensation.

The thing with accidents like this is that unless you can prove someone else was negligent, it would be very difficult to pin it on them.

That even applies to, say, parking your car at the side of the road and someone crashing into it when it's icy. Unless you can prove they were negligent, you're unlikely to claim successfully on their insurance.

Is it worth claiming on contents insurance for something like this? I claimed for a camera when I was mugged and it just lands up sending up the cost of your insurance when you renew. So you do land up paying after all. I will now save contents insurance for bigger emergencies.

Wasn't drivers fault but another car driver. Bus driver was very apologetic and helpful as i wasn't the only one who fell with buggy. Another one fell off her seat.

So you have said yourself that it was not the bus driver's fault, therefore not the bus company's fault, so why are you asking who covers the cost of the repairs? I'm sorry I dont mean to sound harsh, but as ghostship said, why do people think they can claim for everything? And at least the bus driver was helpful and apologetic, I don't see what else the could do!

Its unfortunate but just be glad your baby is ok.

The bus stood on its own brakes?

KrisAkabusi · 02/01/2023 21:20

@Daisiesonthelawn why on earth did you feel the need to resurrect an 11 year old thread for this?

There will be signs on the bus saying 'do not hang bags off the pushchair' Why weren't you holding the buggy too?

why would there be signs saying that Confused

Do you have insurance with your bank. I know with Barclays you can insure things after they have broke x
