And that I would learn how to use a keyboard?

Seeker I have no idea what you are on about

Salmotrutta · 26/07/2012 11:09

So, you mean some people accuse posters of "bashing" an OP when all they are doing is questioning or challenging an opinion etc?

Good point. Let me illustrate it:

Questioning: 'What happened with the quotation marks in the thread title, Seeker?'

Challenging: 'You haven't used the quotation marks correctly in your thread title!"

Bashing: 'Seeker, you idiot, don't you know how to use your keyboard?!'

GetOrfMoiIand · 26/07/2012 11:20

lol at the insanity typing.

Knid has it - yes you can challenge people's viewpoints (otherwise it isn't a debate) but some people are so bloody rude.

And if two or three reasonably regular posters agree with each other, it isn't anything to do with royalty or MN mates or all that crap. They just happen to agree with each other.

Isn't bashing more like "seeker, you can't use a keyboard. Everyone who's nick name begins with S is the same, and that's why you shouldn't be allowed to drive cars or operate machinery. And you ahouldn't be allowed to vote either."

OP posts:
StrandedBear · 26/07/2012 12:24

Agree GetOrf.

Seeker you are right I probably shouldn't drive.

Of course, questioning can be used to bash, if you're keen.

When a question's asked once - that's a question.

When a question's asked twenty times (even by different posters) - that might be bashing. Cos it's not for the information, is it?

TheVermiciousKnid · 26/07/2012 12:29

Sorry, my attempt at bashing was rather inadequate. Blush I must try harder. Grin

Shock I am not royalty annie. That's them lot

GetOrfMoiIand · 26/07/2012 12:38

And I have only seen one episode of what I would call bullying on mumsnet, and that was years ago and the two bullies were moldies.

I think people confuse robust conversation with bullying when they are a bit thick and are losing teh argument

seeker · 26/07/2012 12:43

It is for information if the questionee won't answer!

OP posts:
bejeezus · 26/07/2012 12:44

I don't think they need to be thick/loosing the arguement. I think some people are just more sensitive/fragile or not used to people disagreeing with them sometimes Smile

SerialKipper · 26/07/2012 12:48

Oh of course. But when the questionee has answered it...

PlumpDogPillionaire · 26/07/2012 12:49

Exactly, bejeesus - it's amazing how easy it is to read different meanings into words on a page or screen depending on mood.
(Personally am feeling quite cheery and plumptious - or is that bumptious? - today, so probably would enjoy a bit of acidic MN cut and thrust. Gotta go and enjoy the sunshine and traffic jams instead, though.)
