Should I be letting my daughter do this?

I submitted a video clip to YouTube last week of my three year old climbing the door frame. Its had a crazy response and she is enjoying the attention. I've had requests from people like good morning america to show the clip and the BBC did an interview with her today. I'm getting a little worried that she may become a bit spoilt over the whole thing or it will encourage her to do dangerous things just to get attention. I don't want to be a pushy parent but then again if its something she enjoys doing should I not encourage her?

Isn't that kind of thing normal? My sisters and I used to do similar on a section of wall at the top of our stairs.

OliviaLMumsnet · 23/07/2012 22:40

Hi Op
Your DD is v sweet. Smile
'Fraid we've removed your link to the you tube video and your other thread, as we don't really allow this kind of advertising, such as it is.
Best of luck with all the Beeb stuff
Thanks
MNHQ

& I agree RE the stealth boasting. 200,000 views on youtube isn't THAT much in the grand scheme of things.

VivaLeBeaver · 23/07/2012 22:52

How is it advertising? Are they selling door frames, climbing courses, toddlers? Have I missed something?

LadySybildeChocolate · 23/07/2012 22:53

Getting lots of hits on your youtube page by putting a link on here is advertising. People get deals with youtube, and they can get paid for the traffic they bring to the site. {sad but true}

Pancakeflipper · 23/07/2012 22:58

It was advertising cushions, there was a wide variety below the door frame.

VivaLeBeaver · 23/07/2012 22:59

I never knew that about YouTube. I must convince dd to something interesting on camera, or maybe the dog.....

youarekidding · 23/07/2012 23:05

I wanna see it. Love watching kids do daring things!

PaWithABra · 23/07/2012 23:53

maxybrown · 24/07/2012 09:30

yes savoy lol I have!!! I haven't uploaded it though but I might, he really wants to do it - it is amazing for me as he has some er issues but also he had severe speech delay and still learning now though his vocab is amazing (weirdly) so to see him do something like that is fab really - if not a bit nerdy Grin

GemmaPomPom · 24/07/2012 09:31

Yeah, let her have her 15 mins of fame Grin

Lucyellensmum99 · 24/07/2012 09:34

Lucyellensmum99 · 24/07/2012 09:41

oh, i hate to rain on your parade OP, but i looked on Youtube and it would seem that kids climbing the door frames has been going on for some time i couldnt find any recent adds though

SugarBatty · 24/07/2012 09:44

As the yoof of today would say "stop begging it!"

MatildaWildwood · 24/07/2012 10:52

Thanks fairenuff

Internet's a strange thing, hope she's enjoying her 15 minutes (she is very sweet and determined!)

emmieging · 24/07/2012 11:09

Er.. Am I missing something here- didn't we all used to climb the door frames as kids?

Personally I wouldnt want to splash my kids all over the Internet, but then I'm not really interested in viewing other people's kiddies doing their party trick.

Funny old thing, the Internet. Shows how it's perfectly possible to get maximum exposure for really ordinary stuff. Whether that exposure is really a good thing is another question..

savoycabbage · 24/07/2012 11:59

Let me know if you ever do Maxybrown. It sounds cracking.

I couldn't give a hoot about the door frame thing though.

InspiredToBoot · 24/07/2012 13:13

Sorry but what a load of nonsense. Why wold a parent be so eager to splash their kids all over the net doing something that a lot of active kids do. The parent seems to be after the limelight here. Ridiculous.

GhostShip · 24/07/2012 15:28

Attention stealth boast. Well in.
