To complain to the noodle company about what I found in DDs noodles today?

I gave DD some Super Noodles. Blush She loves them and I DO get them sometimes...I cooked them in a clean non stick pan and as soon as I added the water and stirred them this piece of copper coloured metal came out...it was in the bound up hard noodles and as they softened, it emerged.

Its about a cm long...sharp and looks like a staple almost...shall I write and complain? Or forget it? If she'd eaten it it would have or could have hurt her...

THe thing is....anyone could complain about a foreign body in food....in the hope of compensation...but I think they need to check their manufacturing process if things like this are getting in!

Definitely complain. You will probably get a lifetime supply of noodles back by return of post.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 23/07/2012 19:55

WHat I mean...is they must get people sticking dead mice in pies and things...and complaining...so they might not believe me...so AIBU to not bother? Or should I?

Complain, not necessarily for compensation but just to warn them in case there's a fault in their machinery and they need to recall a batch. They will appreciate you letting them know and might give you something for your trouble.

London...I'm not sure I want lifetime supply of Super Noodles! Theyre gross but dD adores them....

I'd complain. They need to know and - who knows - you might get a year's supply of Super Noodles.

Nannyto2 · 23/07/2012 19:56

I would report it, send a letter accompanied with photos of packaging and the bit of copper..

xDivAx · 23/07/2012 19:56

I would say complain, luckily you spotted it, but damage could have been caused if you hadn't. They need to be aware!

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 23/07/2012 19:56

Shall I send them the thing I found?

Kayano · 23/07/2012 19:56

You let her eat it?!?!

I would complain but that coppery metal infected noodle would by get near my dc Confused

fuzzypicklehead · 23/07/2012 19:57

Yes, do hang on to the packaging so you can tell them the batch number--if something has gone wrong in the manufacturing process they need to know about it.

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 23/07/2012 19:57

No Kayano! But if I had not seen it...and had served it...she could have gotten hurt.

OP posts:
KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 23/07/2012 19:58

Oh yes...the batch number!

LynetteScavo · 23/07/2012 19:58

You need to complain. They may well know where it come from. It's not as if you are asking for compensation. And yes, they do need to check their manufacturing process!

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 23/07/2012 19:59

I just had a look and it actually looks like a shaving of metal...you know as if it was from a machine edge or something?

Crossposted!

50shadesofslapntickle · 23/07/2012 20:01

Yes of course you should complain!

I read an article about those kind of noodles and how they sit in your dufedtvr system for ages...

Shock
50shadesofslapntickle · 23/07/2012 20:03

And yes, send the part in too - ughh, gross!

FeakAndTheWeebleWorm · 23/07/2012 20:05

Complain but don't be surprised if they're not that interested - a friend of mine found a toe nail in a ready-meal lasagne from Tesco and when she complained, was given £10 and an apology. The End. So you probably won't get a lifetime supply of noodles!

McHappyPants2012 · 23/07/2012 20:05

I would alert them to the problem do they can fix it.

JumpingThroughHoops · 23/07/2012 21:01

No- well yes - but take it to Trading Standards. If you send it back to the company they won't always change their practices. If you send the packaging and contents to TS they will investigate

AmandinePoulain · 23/07/2012 21:04

I found a piece of plastic in a Cadburys chocolate last year, I sent it to them with the batch number and they investigated then sent me a cheque for £20 so definitely send it to them!

RuleBritannia · 23/07/2012 21:07

I would take it to the local Council's Public Health Department. You don't know where that piece of metal has come from. It could have caused damage to your daughter.

RadioRentalMum · 23/07/2012 21:07

Definitely complain, something may have gone far wrong in the manufacturing process and this may alert them to the problem. You might get freebies, you might not. I recently found a shard of glass in my drink at a well known pizza restaurant and on other occasion a shard of pottery in my coffee in a well known coffee shop, complained on both occasions and was offered nothing except from a large thank you for letting them know and not creating a fuss.
