To think this isn't good enough for a 5* hotel

We have booked a super plush expensive hotel for tonight as a treat for my birthday. As I'm very pregnant with dc three this is likely to be our last break in a long time do we splashed out.

We booked a split level room that advertised having an enormous wooden tub. I've been looking forward to a bath that covers my bump all week Grin

Anyway, we check in, come up to the room and I go to run the bath but theres no bath oil/foam. On ringing reception dh is told to put some shower gel in as they dont do bath stuff.

Now, it's obviously not the end of the world, but it's pissed me off. AIBU?

Well I've been in a 3* in Paris with lovely bath products of all types so I think they really need to shape up!

Out of the bath and off for dinner Smile If I hadn't come back you'd be giving out too Grin

I stayed in a 5* that had 1 white sugar in the tea/coffee making bit. And a mug with a broken handle that I cut my finger on.

Have a lovely evening fish.

Yanbu, even centreparcs have separate bath stuff, shower gel and shampoo.

Those of you that are saying "You are being very silly.
Did you complain that there wasn't a man fanning you with a palm leaf too" or "If that's your only complaint about the place then I would say you are pretty lucky" are just a bit jealous I think!

A 5* hotel IMO should endeavour to supply these things if not in the first instance then when you ask.

A 5* is given and because of it's rating a premium is paid. I would expect these things.

Maybe because I have stayed in several 5* and know what to expect perhaps.

I've stayed in that hotel, much cheaper room though! It's lovely! Enjoy your break.

I can't believe people are saying YABU!

When it comes to hotels, there is 5 and then there is 5. It seems to be a very board range. I'd be pissed off with no toiletries - all a good hotel has to do to be good is get the simple, basic things just right.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 21/07/2012 20:52

I was in a 5* for work recently. There was a full set of toiletries next to the bath, as well as a glass jar of bath salts and a loofah. YANBU!

FWIW I used to work for Lush - bubble bath and shower gel really are the same thing. Actually, the Original Source shower gels make fabulous bubble bath.

On the way back to reality now, after a fabulous break. Thanks to all those who understood my outrage Wink. I mentioned it at reception on check out and the lady completely agreed with me and said she would look into it. Lovely hotel though, and the tub was fantastic Smile
