To think this isn't good enough for a 5* hotel

We have booked a super plush expensive hotel for tonight as a treat for my birthday. As I'm very pregnant with dc three this is likely to be our last break in a long time do we splashed out.

We booked a split level room that advertised having an enormous wooden tub. I've been looking forward to a bath that covers my bump all week Grin

Anyway, we check in, come up to the room and I go to run the bath but theres no bath oil/foam. On ringing reception dh is told to put some shower gel in as they dont do bath stuff.

Now, it's obviously not the end of the world, but it's pissed me off. AIBU?

however, i would just like to point out, that shower gel and bubble bath are the same product they are just in different packagings

just sayin'

nickelbarapasaurus · 21/07/2012 16:50

bollocks, sausage you beat me to it!
(why does posting take so long when i have DD?)

MainlyMaynie · 21/07/2012 16:53

I'd be unimpressed. In 5-star, with a specifically advertised bath, I'd expect bath oil and wouldn't take my own. In a really good 5-star, I'd expect them to find a way of getting me some if they didn't have any!

MintyMojito · 21/07/2012 16:53

Shower gel is not the same as bubble bath. No way. You guys must be showerers. A true bather knows the difference between shower gel and bubble bath. Not that it's hard to tell.

CasperGutman · 21/07/2012 16:54

In my experience most hotels supply a combination bath and shower product, there are plenty of nice ones by the usual posh hotel toiletries people (Moulton Brown et al). If you already had something like that and expected more, YABU in my opinion.

PoppyWearer · 21/07/2012 17:07

I'm with you, MintyMojito. Very different things in my book.

Snog · 21/07/2012 17:09

was the bath made of wood?

Catsmamma · 21/07/2012 17:09

it's my fault...i stole it all.

hermioneweasley · 21/07/2012 17:54

This is what trip advisor is for

WowOoo · 21/07/2012 17:58

Complain so you can have complimentary something!
Happy birthday!

lurkerspeaks · 21/07/2012 17:58

I would expect bath products in a 5* hotel room with a bath. I would not appreciate being told to use shower gel unless it was bath & shower gel.

As others have said a good 5 would find a way to rectify this even if it meant someone being sent shopping. I used to work in a 4 city centre hotel as a student and went on several interesting shopping missions.......

And this warrants a topic. Well.

GhostShip · 21/07/2012 18:14

Absolutely LMAO at 'true bathers'

Graciescotland · 21/07/2012 18:22

I've never come across bath oil in a hotel room, I did stay in a 5* where for twenty quid they'd come up and run your bath and pop some in for you.

Iamsparklyknickers · 21/07/2012 18:29

YANBU, it's 5*, there should be a tastefully arranged basket of miniatures so you can tip them easily into your bag when you leave.

You just reminded me laqueen, aerosol sprays get rid of bubbles - surprisingly useful to know!

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 21/07/2012 18:50

Yes the tub is made of wood! Not bothering to link cause heading to dinner but it's the hope street hotel in Liverpool. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Dh went out and got some imperial leather, 5* all the way Wink Grin

The room is fab though, and restaurant supposed to be great so all is not lost
