Took my little ones to the beach today and two of them got their jelly shoes covered in dog shite..friggin disgusting... so glad I had put shoes on them...there were kids playing there with no shoes on as they should...and a couple of dogs flying around the beach..so had a lovely job cleaning the dog shite off...WTF is wrong with some people if you own a dog then act responsibly and clean your DOGS SHITE UP!!!!!!!

Not forgetting human wee/ lion poo Lemarch.

Cats don't poo on beaches as AFAIK, although the cat haters would claim they do probably.

Imsosorryalan · 20/07/2012 20:57

YuckSad
Do folk still have to pick up their dog poop of they live in the countryside? My friend reckons not but surely it can still get walked on by anyone? Sorry for divertingWink

If dog owners don't want to pick their pets' poo up, it's only fair that they should have to tread in the fresh turd themselves and then spend the next ten minutes scraping their shoes on every bit of convenient grass. Why leave it there for someone else to do?

LucieMay · 20/07/2012 22:36

The most mystifying thing is that I have never met a single person who admits to doing this. Every dog owner ever is apparently terrible responsible but dog shite is everywhere so some of them must be doing it! And I don't reckon it's a tiny minority either. our local green is littered with dog shite yet whenever I see a dog sitting the owner always clears it up which convinces me they only bother if someone is watching!

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 20/07/2012 23:09

YANBU there is some arsehole around our area who lets their dog shit all over the path - just what you want when you have a baby and 4 year old to get to the car. Lazy bastard dog owners!! Angry

I have two dogs and will pick up if it is on a path, or somewhere that I can reasonably imagine children playing.
I also go to national trust places that say to flick it off paths and walk ways. I think that is the best way to do it.
I will leave shits in woods, or in areas that are not walked. I personally think it is much better then lots of bags of shit filling up landfill sites!

NeilFan · 21/07/2012 00:02

The Dad of my school friend once posted a dog turd back to a neighbour. Brown envelope through the letter box with a note saying - you dropped something!

Mrsjay · 21/07/2012 00:04

It isn't difficult dog poops you pick it up I used to run after folk when my dog was alive saying oh I have a poop bag if you want it Grin sorry your children had to step it vile isnt it

I'm probably going to out myself now :) I have an irrational phobia about dog shite. I can't walk down the street with people, especially my DC without at least once telling them to watch the shite, I seem to have some super human skill to know where its located, how many metres away :) :) Even now thinking about the disgusting vile stuff makes me want to vomit.

I'm quite lucky, in the new area I moved to it's not a huge problem, I live right on a beach and again most people pick up after their dogs, so it's quite clean.

At my old home it was nightmare, I lived on a busy road connecting to a nature area, so people used to walk their dogs to and from and this one ignorant bitch used to allow her dog to shit right outside of my gate. I asked her nicely to either not let it do it's business there or pick the bloody thing up but nope she just looked at me like I was asking her to kiss my arse or something. I would bang on the window and scream at her too but she wasn't bothered.

Time and time again I had to pick it up or swill it away, one time my youngest son stood in it while wearing new trainers and I threw them straight in the bin rather than touch them.

The end result was I actually threw a bucket of water over the woman and the dog, I didn't really want to hit the dog with it as it wasn't his fault but couldn't help it and it was only water, she didn't know what to say but wasn't very amused but from then she started to walk on the other side of the road :) Had I known where she lived I would have reported her too.

If you reported her for assault she would have been able to report you for leaving dog shit around.

There's not a jury in the land would convict someone of assault for throwing water at an anti-social shit leaving scumbag.

D0oinMeCleanin · 21/07/2012 14:24

Oh, Staffy bashing week is done then?

I guess we were over due a good dog shit thread after all of that.

I think it's a dogs right to shit where ever it likes, personally. They are wild animals after all. Cats get away with it, so why not dogs? Foxes and badgers too. And birds. Rabbits too, they shit in the great outdoors. I fail to see the difference.

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2012 14:29

But you don't take cats, foxes and badgers, rabbits etc out on a lead so they can have a shit. That's the difference.

I bet you wouldn't find cat poo on the local footy pitch. Before the matches some poor soul gets despatched on 'dog shit duty' with a shovel. It's appalling, it really is.

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2012 14:30

I assume that people that take their dogs for a walk after dark are probably the non picker uppers too.

D0oinMeCleanin · 21/07/2012 14:33

Really? I always just assume they work during day light hours.

Arseface · 21/07/2012 14:34

YANBU.

The beach? That is horrible.

I have 2 dogs and 3 dcs. We always pick up after our dogs - couldn't imagine leaving it, much to the amusement of DHs family in darkest Wiltshire!

Am so hacked off with cleaning other dog's shit off dcs' shoes, my dogs' paws and pushchair wheels before coming in.
OP, you're right about having to dig it out of the treads, a quick rinse won't do at all and it seems to be getting worse - youngest's first proper phrase was, 'Mind the shite!' Blush

Rarely see the buggers at it though. Wish I could get my hands on them.

I've been shouted at from a passing car when my female dog has had a wee though. I was also holding two full shit sacks at the time!

It's doubly infuriating for responsible dog owners - not only dealing with the shit but being blamed for it too!

Can we start a campaign? If anyone sees a shit leaver can we snap a pic and post it on local news/council websites?

SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2012 14:44

Poor dog being in all day then D0oin, must be desperate for a shit. Grin

KittyFane1 · 21/07/2012 14:46

No excuse it's disgusting.

I am also not U for spraying my entire garden with 'get off' animal and vermin repellant spray this morning after nearly mowing up a fresh cat poo on the edge of the grass. . One cat legged it through the garden not long ago (instead of padding through and settling down on my wall for the day) Result.

RuleBritannia · 21/07/2012 18:15

People who take their dogs out could attach a plastic bag in the correct way so that any poo is automatically caught and goes into the plastic bag? What an opportunity for an inventor / entrepreneur here!

Noqontrol · 21/07/2012 18:50

Grin Dondon.
