And then again short break premier inn or Travelodge inform me i can only have two to a room for disabled room but can have 4 in a family room .Yes but i cant get into a bathroom in a family room

Does that make it clearer

OP posts:
lisaro · 20/07/2012 18:32

Actually that backs up my argument. Confused

QuintessentialShadows · 20/07/2012 18:32

Who are disabled? You or one of the children, or both?

Is the carer an adult?

Do you need the carer to sleep in the same room as you, or could the carer sleep with one of the children?

pinkappleby · 20/07/2012 18:33

You could try youth hostels. They often have large accesible rooms for very reasonable prices, and often very close to attractions. We slept in an accessible room for 5, I believe they had them for 6 though.

TheHumancatapult · 20/07/2012 18:36

Why ? Disabled rooms and family rooms are same size . Yet they will let me boom a family room with pull out beds. So still issue of moving round with the added problem of I can't use the bathroom . So if their health and sagger have no problem with that why can I not in disabled room

Quint I am a full time chair user my youngest son uses a chair but not indoors

TheHumancatapult · 20/07/2012 18:38

Pink

Thank you never considered them at all . Will go have a look

Quint on weekend breaks no carer just me and dd and ds3

Longer breaks yes would take a carer as means ds1 and ds2 not doing it all

YANBU to want accessible family accommodation! And it is very U for accessible rooms/caravans to be at the top end of the price range - why should you have to pay more for this type of room? It's not like choosing more luxurious accommodation, willing to pay more - there is no choice!

However, I think that the air bed issue might be insurance related and something to do with fire regulation? (I don't know for sure)

Moominsarescary · 20/07/2012 19:04

I think we booked it late so it was cheaper, which isn't ideal is you might miss out.

Might sound daft but have you tried eBay? We got cheep accommodation recently, although not wheelchair accessable. Again it might be a last min thing so no good

Maybe worth a try though

OliviaLMumsnet · 20/07/2012 19:07

Evening all
An early evening guidelines reminder for you.
Thanks

Moominsarescary · 20/07/2012 19:12

Also if you know anyone who has been on a haven holiday recently they could book it for you, they have massive discounts untill jan

TheHumancatapult · 20/07/2012 19:23

Erm I'm not trolling and don't think I attacked anyone . Hmm

Mommin will keep eye out used to do haven when was not in a wheelchair and my older two were younger . But truth haven there is not so much on a site . Have contacted them to ask but it's the price difference I'm loath to pay

I'm happy to compromise on main family holiday by forgoing proper accessible kitchen which since I'm the cook is a pita Shame as means more takeaways or eating out Wink

Erm. We weren't talking to you, OP HmmGrin It was a general reminder. Thanks again all

YANBU!

Surely in these days of 'equality' you should be able to get a family room in a Premier Inn which is also accessible? Do they think disabled people don't have children? Hmm

Butlins, if they offer family accomodation for 6, should also offer accessible family accomodation for 6. Or they are in breach of disability access and equality laws.

Some attitudes on this thread are fairly vile - the whole 'what do you expect? Disabled and entitled!' type of thing Hmm

Moominsarescary · 20/07/2012 19:45

My friends have just come back from the haven in great yarmouth, they usually book butlins but they really enjoyed it so we've all booked for next year.

They've been up graded and have paid just over £400 for a week in July, I don't know if it's wheelchair accessable but they did say it's wider than an average van, has larger doors, more bathroom space.

wishiwasonholiday · 20/07/2012 19:48

What about a caravan on Butlins site, Skegness definitely have them.

msrantsalot · 20/07/2012 19:49

I used to be a support worker and we would have a different room in a hotel from the client. Why would carer be expected to sleep in same room? Also fine to have kids in next door room if you have a baby monitor, I take it they don't sleep in your room at home, so what's the difference with a hotel?

Bossybritches22 · 20/07/2012 19:49

Thanks Olivia for the reminder=some uncalled for remarks on here.

OP- YANBU it can be beyond the whit of man in 2012 to allocate two rooms with adjoining doors one of the rooms being accessible surely?

Sirzy · 20/07/2012 19:53

www.hoburne.com/faqs

Hoburne holidays say they have accessible caravans so if their sites are in an area you like the look of may be worth seeing if they can offer something suitable

Sirzy · 20/07/2012 19:53

oops www.hoburne.com/faqs

shewhowines · 20/07/2012 19:54

YANBU

Sirzy · 20/07/2012 19:56

www.park-resorts.com/accommodation/caravans/accessible/

Park resorts have accessible caravans which sleep 6

TheLightPassenger · 20/07/2012 19:57

yanbu, disabled accommodation should be available that sleeps the same number as you would get in an ordinary family room/ordinary caravan.

TheHumancatapult · 20/07/2012 20:01

Mrs rant in hotel that means I need to go out my hotel room door into public corridor then into my kids room so by default there is a door from their room to public corridor while I'm not one of these people that worry about paediphiled round every corner .I'm more concerned about them getting scared and opening door and forgetting where I am

I would not be happy either . Oh and in a villa yup kids in Seperate room but that's fine it's just ours in accomdstion . Also your find hotels will not allow under 16 in Seperate rooms either unless connecting rooms and guess what premier in and travel lodge accessible room don't have connecting doors

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 20/07/2012 20:02

6 in a room is a lot to expect really, in any accomodation.

Can the eldest two not share a separate room?

Bossybritches22 · 20/07/2012 20:05

aaaargh so stupid!!

How frustrating for you Sad
