I am a regular poster who has nc.
I was out shopping today with dcs, ds2 (18mths) was in his buggy drinking WATER from a fruitshoot bottle. He had thrown and cracked his usual juice cup and we were out getting another one.
An older lady passed us with her friends as we were sitting having a rest and she clocked ds2 drinking from the bottle.
A loud tut from her then she starts telling her friend that I'm why society is what it is. Young mums (I'm nearly 30 btw) dragging up their children and how she'd bet her last penny my children are all to different dads!
She got all that from a bottle?
I sat there stunned, really fuming but not wanting to let go in front of dcs. Dd (9) luckily didn't here her.

YANBU and some of the replies are a bit odd!

Bonnie does your DC prefer that to a nice red wine?? I suppose that would leave some stained lip evidence...

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/07/2012 09:24

^^ that is my stock response for the troll season.

I was going to ask whats so bad about fruit shoots, but on doing a search ive noticed a few threds on them. I'll have a look. Personally, they are delic and as bad as orange squash?

minimisschief · 20/07/2012 12:32

fake post imo. the only people i have ever seen care about fruit shoots are weirdos on mumsnet

valiumredhead · 20/07/2012 12:55

Oh honestly, did that really happen OP? Like seriously and not just in your hard? Wink

valiumredhead · 20/07/2012 12:55

mini quite!

Mrsjay · 20/07/2012 13:02

I would have laughed at her tbh what does it matter what a random old dear thinks

MammaTJ · 20/07/2012 13:02

I would have thanked her very much for calling me young and told the judgemental old bitch that she was wrong about everything else too! People like that are not used to being called out on their behaviour and so continue to do it!

SugarBatty · 20/07/2012 13:04

Was there anything else you were doing? Did she hold a door open and you not thank her? Did she think your older dc should have been at school or something? Were you taking up a whole bench with bags where she wanted to sit? I just don't understand how the fruit shoot bottle prompted a rant which didn't mention the fruit shoot!

Do you have 2 or 3 children? I assumed it was 2 but the lady said "all have different dads," which implies more than 2.

Are you making this up?

MardyBra · 20/07/2012 13:06

How come you had a fruit shoot bottle to decant your water into anyway? Wink

SugarBatty · 20/07/2012 13:08

Can you re-use fruit shoot bottles?

cozietoesie · 20/07/2012 13:08

That's absolutely true, jazzchickens. My gran used to give me whisky (and a saucerful of raisins) when she was babysitting me for my parents at a couple of years old. They couldn't understand for years how she always managed to get me down so quickly.

It was all downhill after that, I'm afraid!

Can you re-use fruit shoot bottles?

I dont see why not Smile

SugarBatty · 20/07/2012 13:33

I meant do they not have those funny lids that won't screww off! Smile

Mrsjay · 20/07/2012 13:35

I sometimes put diluting juice in old fruitshoot bottles they do come off you just break the seal

Pagwatch · 20/07/2012 13:39

Of course the good thing about made up threads is that it allows absolute tossers to give free reign to their 'old bitch' hyperbole.

Nothing like a fake thread to justify ones own bigotry

StellarforStar · 20/07/2012 13:46

Oooooh, I hope it wasn't one of the new type bottles, haven't they all been recalled for 'safety reasons'?

Tough times for me, couldn't get hold of a sodding fruit shoot for love nor money.

SugarBatty · 20/07/2012 13:48

Thanks mrs jay! I hate it when you get bottles with lids that won't come off, so wasteful!
