to be angry at being judged?

I am a regular poster who has nc.
I was out shopping today with dcs, ds2 (18mths) was in his buggy drinking WATER from a fruitshoot bottle. He had thrown and cracked his usual juice cup and we were out getting another one.
An older lady passed us with her friends as we were sitting having a rest and she clocked ds2 drinking from the bottle.
A loud tut from her then she starts telling her friend that I'm why society is what it is. Young mums (I'm nearly 30 btw) dragging up their children and how she'd bet her last penny my children are all to different dads!
She got all that from a bottle?
I sat there stunned, really fuming but not wanting to let go in front of dcs. Dd (9) luckily didn't here her.

I doubt anyone outside MN would even know what a fruitshoot was.

Ds (2.3) has watered down Sauvignon Blanc in his beaker. I can just imagine the looks I would get if people knew what he was drinking.

YANBU, she was rude to voice her opinion like that. I do judge parents giving small children junk to eat/drink but I don't comment on it.

When I was about 19 I was standing at the door of a supermarket holding my baby cousin waiting on my aunt getting a trolley. This older woman walked past, looked me up and down and then said right to my face "disgraceful" with a cats bum expression.

OP YANBU. Some old women just have their judgey pants pulled up too high.

Only on MN have I heard anyone slag off Fruit Shoots

It just doesn't happen in the RL within my earshot anyway

She would have had a field day if she walked into the welcome area of my son's Primary this morning because there were huge stacks of Fruit Shoots from floor to ceiling for the kid's parties.

To most other people it's just fruit squash

I have done similar with water for my dd, and have been given funny looks, i think that as i have said in other posts, i feel people do just love to judge others, i think it makes them feel better about themselves..sadly.

The OP was rightly judged. For there to be an empty bottle to put the water in, either one of her family had already drunk a fruit shoot or she must have picked a used bottle out of the bin.

I'm an old(ish!) woman and I've never knowingly even seen a fruitshoot.

I've never knowingly tutted at anyone in the street either. Apart from tutting at the person who threw a sandwich container in a shop doorway.

I had never heard of fruit shoots until I joined MN. I still couldn't identify one. I am 49.
