to want to slap the assistant in Super Drug

IamNotYourLove · 19/07/2012 13:54

for calling me "My love" every other sentence?

Do you want a bag my love.
Enter your pin my love.
Do you want a bottle of water for just 28p my love.

I am not your love.

I am an intelligent ,degree educated professional woman , who wirites for the national broadsheet newspapers, mid 40s, dressed in skinny jeans, converses, nice hair and Bobbi Brown slap.

I am not an old age pensioner who needs patronising.

You, on the other hand, looked no more than 24 and needed a slap.

Lucyellensmum99 · 19/07/2012 18:26

The OP didn't come back then?

canistartagainplease · 19/07/2012 18:33

Just came back to find i'm linked to the op, thanks.

TheVermiciousKnid · 19/07/2012 18:42

That was me, apologies! I didn't read your post properly.

JenFraggle · 19/07/2012 19:52

Well I'm so amazing that I got a certificate for being born.

SquidgyBiscuits · 19/07/2012 20:00

I can imagine she was having a giggle at your expense, OP.

Mid 40s, skinny jeans, converse (which are shite BTW) and a massive stick up ones arse.

I wish she had called you a cunt.

Posterofapombear · 19/07/2012 20:03

Converse is the plural you insufferable twat.

Fucking converses

GenericNameChange · 19/07/2012 20:05

do you want a bag you cunt

I have found this far more amusing than it should be Blush

wish the assistant had said it though, would have been more appropriate than "my love"

rainydaysarebad · 19/07/2012 20:05

Aaaaah fuck off, my love. Degree educated and still can't type properly. Why all the spaces before and after the commas?

mrsduff · 19/07/2012 20:18

What exactly do you write for the broadsheets, OP?

Are they letters of furious indignation, written in green ink?

Whoneedssleepanyway · 19/07/2012 21:00

SPsFanjo i cant stop laughing each time i think about "do you want a bag you cunt" have tears pouring down my face! That is the funniest thing i have ever read on mumsnet!

MomsNatter · 19/07/2012 21:12

Maybe the shop assistant was Brucie's (great) grandaughter.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/07/2012 21:24

Sadly don't have time to read all 11 pages but....

Where I was raised I would regulary be referred to as "my lover" or from the really traditional ones "little maid"

Where I went to university it was love or sweetheart

when I lived a while with a boyfriend it was ducky

now its bab or love

As someone with a degree and a high profile responsible job who dresses in her own sweet style I can safely say - I don't care, call me what you like as long as its friendly

If the op's soo fucking marvellous why doesn't she fuck off to somewhere more highbrow rather than superdrug?

Go on, IamNotYourLove fuck off, sweetheart, and when you get there, fuck off some more.

Oh, and if the assistant needed a slap (nice... Hmm) why didn't you give her one?

You horrid little obnoxious turd. That's someone's daughte that quite evidently is a better person than you.

Make sure you're still fucking off there, won't you?

VivaLeBeaver · 19/07/2012 21:44

Yabu my love.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/07/2012 21:49

I've got two degrees, but tend to wear Mac makeup and bootlegs. I do have nice hair and own a pair of Converse but don't wear them much now as everyone has them.

Am I highbrow enough to not expect to be called my love?

Hmm
maresedotes · 19/07/2012 21:51

Reminds me of the Watson & Oliver comedy sketch. "What would you like my darling, tea my darling, sugar my darling, sausage sandwich my darling..." etc.

Read that back and realise it was funnier on the telly.

ontheedgeofwhatever · 19/07/2012 22:01

Come to think of it my sister has a 2 degrees, a masters and a Phd and is a clinical psychologist yet she's more than happy to be referred to as "love" or "bab" (think given what some of her patients call her its a welcome relief Grin )

lovebunny · 19/07/2012 22:12

perfectly reasonable. slap everyone who calls you 'love', 'my love', 'darling' or any other term of endearment. slap them twice. they're just rude.

chocolatebuttin22 · 19/07/2012 22:39

OP everyone knows that converses are out and vans are in. Get with the programe MY LOVE.

like someone said earlier, bobbi brow makeup sooooo Y2K, everyone knows bare minerals is better for the more ....mature skin!

chocolatebuttin22 · 19/07/2012 22:40

bobbi brown*

Babylon1 · 19/07/2012 22:43

In Derby it would have been,
"d'ya want a bag me duck"

Sorry love YABU Grin

TuftyFinch · 19/07/2012 22:51

You should take her to the highest court in the land. Twice.
If you are a journalist ( which I doubt- do you make the tea?) are you thinking you're special? You're not.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/07/2012 22:53

Surely Converse or Vans in your 40s is a bit trying too hard?

ekidna · 19/07/2012 22:53

Just did image search for converse to check they are still the weedy weak ankle swaddlers I'd remembered them to be
