AIBU?

Nope. Only midwives, obs and DH present during birth thank you very much.

At a push, photographer could be hanging around outside and come in when you're decent and baby is bundled up in your arms.

SoleSource · 18/07/2012 22:24

Wonder if her pics were airbrushed? @ metafarcical

Has anyone ever seen Kelly Hamptons birth photos? Make up immaculate, birth favours ready to be given out

MrsApplepants · 18/07/2012 22:27

I'm not sure there would be much of a market for this service...

MrsKwazii · 18/07/2012 22:29

Hahahahahahahahahahaa! Hahahahahaha!

Stupid fucking idea.

MrsKwazii · 18/07/2012 22:32

A close up of my face while pushing would probably have captured a few blood vessels popping. Closely followed by a fist in the face for anyone getting too close to me.

SoleSource · 18/07/2012 22:32

We could send copies to Matthew Wright Grin

MrsKwazii · 18/07/2012 22:37

Can you imagine how screwed up his face would get? He'd look even more like a constipated gnome Grin

SoleSource · 18/07/2012 22:39

PMSL Kwazii

He DOES look rather gnome like, well done! Grin

OP posts:
MrsKwazii · 18/07/2012 22:40

Alan Sugar has the same look to him too Wink

SoleSource · 18/07/2012 22:45

LOL @ Alan Sugar. You're MN official gnome spotter. I wonder if they're live in a secret' gnome society'? Shock

I had 2 of my births filmed for tv. I'm soooo glad I agreed to do itSmile

metafarcical · 18/07/2012 23:06

Sole I don't think they were touched up. It must have been a good photographer. They really were very good but I do think posting them on FB might have been a bit much. The arty close up of the cord cutting might have crossed a line!

SoleSource · 18/07/2012 23:15

Ewww gross at close up cord cutting...

I can imagine you are bigbuttons :) It does appeal, you can show your children? Woould fascinate them I suspect.

DottyWottyDooDah · 18/07/2012 23:38

Were they shown on tv bigbuttons?

fortifiedwithtea · 19/07/2012 00:05

No, No, No!!! Never. I looked terrible. Also at ante-natal classes midwife said if Hubby fainted they would ignore and step over him (he didn't and we have 2DC).

Well its got me thinking. What if you hire a stranger to do your photograghy and they pass out cold when you're in the throws of it all?

DitaVonCheese · 19/07/2012 00:14

My doula took some photos and a short clip of DS being born and I love them :) They are really just for me, DH and a couple of very close family members to see but I'm so glad I have them.

I've seen some amazing birth photography as well. YANBU.

DitaVonCheese · 19/07/2012 00:16

This kind of thing

I think I'd like photos. But I'd rather my birthing partner took them than a professional photographer.
I was my best friends birthing partner and it was amazing, seeing the baby coming out was so surreal and beautiful I think I'd like pictures of my own birth to be able to see it from that perspective.

bigbuttons · 19/07/2012 08:03

Yes they were on tv, discovery channel and some other. Home birth diaries or something like that. last birth got about as close up to the business end as is humanly possibleShock. yes I did poo but that's all edited and pixilated, thank heavens.

No, aside from the fact that both DCs births were traumatic and frightening I don't think it'd be nice for them to have photos of them leaving my body about!

I'd have loved a profesional photographer to take photos afterwards, either when they were in ICU (though wouldn't be allowed!) or when I first got to hold them. DH is possibly the shitetess photographer in the entire world and simply cannot, even by accident take a decent photo, and so there aren't any nice photographs of the boys as newborns. Nor of me with them.

The amount of times I've asked him if he actually looks through the lens and does he know that is what will be in the photograph!

KitCat26 · 19/07/2012 11:41

Haha. No not a good idea.

I would not want a picture of DD1 being pulled out by the ears by the little guy with the forceps, or a picture of my fanjo shredding at the moment of birth. Not a great moment.

Even after the birth, which we do have pictures of, DD1 has a squashed scull and saggy scalp and I look like I've run a marathon naked and the pain is still showing on my face. I wouldn't want to pay someone to take those though!

We've got pictures of DD2 being lifted out after a CS. Not for public viewing though.
