Not at all Stealth, I think it's pretty well known that an "x" on a sensitive thread is shorthand for showing you care. A full stop is pretty well known to mean "just having a gawp". I suspect I know which thread the OP is on about, as ?I cringed at seeing the . too.

Ive seen it today on a heart breaking thread, the thread is fast moving so I didn't post about it, but I think its very rude, im going to report it for being rude and see if it gets deleted.

That is very rude, particularly if it is a very sensitive issue. Some people just love a good gawp though. At least be decent enough to make the effort by leaving a (relevant) reply.

I agree that it's rude on a sensitive thread but I have marked my place on funny, chatty ones and I think that's ok. It's usually because the thread is moving too fast for me.

If you're in MN New view (on Customise), you can hover your mouse on the right hand side of each post and bookmark it. It will mark it as "saved". Then the next time you come back to the thread, you will be magically transported to the point where you last left the thread. It's brilliant.

It definitely wasn't bumping the thread to get it more views, the previous post was less than a minute before it. The thread was hardly in danger of dropping off the page.

Well yes, thats what watch thread is for. Why would anyone want a thread to be in TIO when they haven't actually contributed?

I saw it too, bit blatant really

It works on an iPad by touching the corner of the post you want to bookmark, then touching the little blue box when it comes up.
