I don't really enjoy correcting spelling errors but I've seen this one so much on MN recently that I typed out a text to my DH this morning and wrote "rediculous" instead of "ridiculous". It's worked it's way into my written vernacular.

RIDICULOUS, people, RIDICULOUS.

Thangeweverymuch love you mwahmwah xxx

This fread has made me snort! I inwardly seethe at lose/loose but I accept it makes me an old fart. Last week dd had a whole English lesson where they were being taught 'text speak' Biscuit DH and I were literally shaking our heads in disbelief!

BupcakesandCunting · 12/07/2012 14:26

Being TAUGHT text speak?????? WTAF???? Sorry, I hate multiple question marks but I need to convey my whatthefuckedness. TAUGHT text speak?! I had to re-read your post 5 times because I was sure you meant being taught NOT to use text speak.

What did she learn in her textspeak lesson? What was the point of it? Just 'why?' basically.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 12/07/2012 14:48

It's counsellor, not councillor/counciller

NotGeoffVader · 12/07/2012 14:48

MrsKwazil I feel you have made perhaps one of the most important points ever on MN, so I would just like to emphasise it in case anybody missed it.

The Alot

MardyBra · 12/07/2012 15:45

I used to have no problem at all with "lose" and "loose".

But I have seen them muddled (and discussed) so often on MN, I am starting to doubt my usage.

PerryCombover · 12/07/2012 15:45

Shouldn't of

bronze · 12/07/2012 15:46

BleepingSooty · 12/07/2012 16:01

I think it's your perogative to write it any way you want.

Ok, it is a difficult one but that should make it easier to remember.
