Surreal rubbish! I don't get it!

OP posts:
TheLazyGirlBlog · 07/07/2012 21:21

Third and Bird (another nicknamed one in our house, this time its Turd and Bird) is evil and should be banned. The singing is worse than Alvin and the Chipmunks, its so cutesy and bleugh. I hate it. It makes me want to go clay pigeon shooting but head straight for their sodding tree.

Calms self

I dont mind Grandpa but it did cause confusion for a while in our house. Mini who was 3 when it first came on, started high fiving us all. Normal right? Except when we would stay "Gimme 5" at her, she would say "no Teawok". WTF is teawok? was asked by all who were invited to high five her.

It was only recently (2 years on nearly) when I happened to be watching with my youngest and realised "teawok" was her mishearing "team work", said by Grandpa and Jason on completely their daring do.

millimurphy · 07/07/2012 21:30

Nooo! - love 'Third and Bird' lol (where the birdies meet, just above the street, to sing twiddly dee!). Can't stand 'Abney and Teal' - it is all about a giant farting poo in a lake - how wrong is that?! The boy watches the ones I like Wink.

DowagersHump · 07/07/2012 21:40

It's the only thing on cbeebies that my 5.5YO will watch

ScramblyEgg · 07/07/2012 21:57

Abney & Teal is great, and Bop is a big hairy fish, according to DS.

SelfRighteousPrissyPants · 07/07/2012 21:58

Is it just me who thinks the poc-pocs are poos?

TheLazyGirlBlog · 07/07/2012 22:02

I thought they were nuts or some such?

Vagaceratops · 07/07/2012 22:07

DS laughs so much he can hardly breathe when Neep comes on.

KellyElly · 07/07/2012 22:09

My 2.8 year old LOVES it. It's one of her favs at the moment along with Tree Fu Tom.

edwinbear · 07/07/2012 22:20

Abney & Teal, I just don't get it. DS (2.10) seems a bit bemused by it, he occasionally comments on the bubbles, but no real interest. Tree Fu Tom on the other hand is absolutely firm favourite at the moment, both with DS and DD, (8 months), who thinks watching her brother do tree fu is the funniest thing that has ever happened in her short 8 months of life.

UniS · 07/07/2012 22:22

make smy 6 year old laugh like a drain, and I quite like it too.

cerealqueen · 07/07/2012 22:39

We love it in this house, especially The Radio episode when we all do jazz hands dancing!

BarredfromhavingStella · 07/07/2012 22:40

They are Pok Poks & the turnip thing is Neap (whom I adore)-I & my dd absolutely love this so yes, YABVU-how can you not get it? Hmm

TCOB · 07/07/2012 22:44

YANBU. It is a pile of pretensious poop. You can even tell where the meedja sorts who dreamed it up live, as the park is blatantly Clissold Park down the road from Abney Park on Stoke Newington Chruch Street. The whole show is so bleeding N16 it hurts.

Badvoc · 07/07/2012 22:47

Lovevabney and teal
Face episode is the slide
"i don't like mud much...it's all cold and ploppy"
:)

maddening · 07/07/2012 22:48

we love it - I like the animation and think it's cute. Ds loves the sneezing one and the snow one - he chortles to them

Badvoc · 07/07/2012 22:48

I think the poc pocs are nuts of some sort.
Neep is a turnip, obv
Bop...think he's a seal?

HumphreyCobbler · 07/07/2012 22:52

It is great. It sounds lovely. It looks lovely. The DC laugh when they watch it.

eagerbeagle · 07/07/2012 23:08

Me and DS frickin love Abney and Teal. I have also introduced DS to bagpuss and the Clangers, both of which he is now very much into.

I like the porridge party but DS' favourite is The Mystery.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 07/07/2012 23:09

I'll make my bloody own can't sew for toffee

mrsgdownunder · 07/02/2014 12:24

I really can't stand it, I try to avoid it at all costs, caught myself staring at the tv the other day with my mouth open trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Utter guff. But then again most of the kids tv is crap, we have giggle and hoot over here in Aus, (grown man living with 2 puppet owls) jimmy giggle has quite a mums fan base here but I'd like to punch him squarely in the nuts, and then I'd like to do the same to Mr Maker, what a Bellend! Why do these men speak with such a stupid squeaky voice, maybe someone beat me to the nut punch

MogTheForgetfulCat · 07/02/2014 15:15

I like Abney and Teal! Abney is made of corduroy Smile. And Toby-dog is a retriever - I like him because my best friend plays the accordion Grin.

TheWitTank · 07/02/2014 15:26

My son adores A&T. He has the cuddly toys too! Love it in our house.
