In my defence, my gran made me watch it all in the 80s and 90s.

I only watch EE as it's the only thing I'm allowed to watch on the TV...we either have cbeebies or news channels on all bloody day.

But EE has pissed me off today. How many bloody times is Kat going to have an affair? I think the writers need to get some new material.

I watch Coronation street, I really enjoy it. I cannot watch the awful soaps they have on here in the US. The acting is awful and the stories ridiculous. They are on in daytime here, General Hospital, One life to live, As the world turns. Some have been cancelled lately, but other have been going as long as Corrie (or close).

I've got no idea who you're all on about.

But soaps are shit. All of em. All that drama, and none of them seem to own a washing machine, shop in a supermarket or do anything other than go down the local pub and holiday in Blackpool / Southend.

Anyone remember Families (ITV, half British, half Australian) and Shortland Street? They were my favourites - used to skive off school so I could watch them!

My DM thinks that coronation street is a documentary. She talks to the tv and tells me all about what so-and-so got up toas if she actually knows them, she says such things as "I can't believe what Tracy has done now?". Its actually quite sweet.

It is just a television programme it isn't supposed to be taken this seriously. I watch but mostly it is background noise. The storylines are dumb most of the time but they can be funny and interesting too.

I do not get why people become so upset by other peoples viewing choices. I watch all kinds of programmes and always have done so. Your viewpoint is small minded.

Actually, I think you are being very, very unreasonable.

Not for thinking that soaps are shite - they are. But for having the pig ignorance to write anyone who watches them off as a "moron".

I quite often sit down in front of Eastenders with a glass of wine because it's mindless fodder and relaxes me after a difficult day at work.

To be called a "moron" for that by someone whose grammar and spelling skills are suspect to say the least is a bit rich.

My aunt just texted back. She wasn't aware she was undoing all her education by unwinding to corrie. She said that she'll rethink and maybe become an alcoholic instead, like a lot of others in stressful jobs!
