would it be ridculous to go to alton towers at 6 weeks pregnant and go on rides, in terms of the baby only being a embro?

im not going ot do this, as im a worrier, just wondering if it is actually a risky thing to do

would there actually be any risk going n rollercoasters at such an early stage, obviuosly i could see there would be from when it is a actually fetus or baby, say from maybe 8-12 weeks, incase it got suahed but if it is only the size of a poppy seed or something is it risky?

SoleSource · 01/07/2012 23:31

Do you want the baby?

whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:32

i already said i wouldn't do it.

just wondering if it is actually a risky thing to do, considering its the size of a poppy seed or whatever

Why would you? Hardly a necessity.

Cherriesarelovely · 01/07/2012 23:33

You are right not to do it.

OhNoMyFanjo · 01/07/2012 23:34

Ignore the sarky replies op. I wouldnt no and think it says not too of pg

thenightsky · 01/07/2012 23:35

6 weeks? I didn't even know I was pg till 12 weeks. In that 12 weeks I went to Alton Towers, drank like a fish, ran 2 half marathons and ate soft cheese, oysters and mussels in France!

DD turns 24 years old next month.

PinkPepper · 01/07/2012 23:38

No, but I don't really think anything would happen. If it did though I'd never forgive myself so for that reason I wouldn't.

SoleSource · 01/07/2012 23:39

I was 23 weeks when I found out. Wasn't a very positive outcome.

yousankmybattleship · 01/07/2012 23:39

Nightsky, just because you got away with all those things doesn't mean they were a good idea. I'm sure we all know of someone who smoked 40 a day and lived to a ripe all age. Does that mean smokking is ok after all?

pickledparsnip · 01/07/2012 23:40

I wouldn't no. No bloody way actually. However, I bet there are lots of people like thenightsky who have no idea they are pregnant and go.

whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:40

yes i def wouldn't do it, bloody hell i take no risks
where it comes to pregnancies

and i can see the risk from say 8 weels where it sort of looks like a tiny tiny baby, with arms and legs etc, but at 6 weeks it is just an embro really, can't see how a rollercoaster could harm it, guess im just trying to understand.

even if the embro couldnt really get squashed. perhaps it could pull the embro away from the uterus wall?

OP posts:
SoleSource · 01/07/2012 23:41

Thing is she is asking about risks of something she isn't going to do. Knowing she is pregnant. I just do not get why you need to asess the risks of something you are not going to do. Unless you are afraid to tell us you are going to go on the rides. Your call.

pickledparsnip · 01/07/2012 23:42

yousankmybattleship I don't think that's what thenightsky is saying. No one would think any of that is a good thing to do whilst pregnant.

whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:43

ss sorry to hear thatSad

like isaid i hoonestly wouldnt do it.
i'm not prepared to take any risks however small.

just wondering why rides can be risky at this early stage.

OP you're right not to risk it for the simple reason that if you did miscarry for no known reason, you would always blame that day out.

6 weeks? I didn't even know I was pg till 12 weeks. In that 12 weeks I went to Alton Towers, drank like a fish, ran 2 half marathons and ate soft cheese, oysters and mussels in France!

And what does that have to do with the love of all things holy??

You didn't know but the OP actually does and is therefore quite rightly taking a responsible stance.

whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:45

if i was really planning on doing it, but pretending i'm not, i would at least name change!

i 100% promise i'm not going to do it, i dont even want to take any risks

OP posts:
whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:47

amazing how much the embro changes from 6 to 8 weeks though isnt it?
at 6 weeks looks kinda like a blob, then at 8 weeks, just 2 weeks later, actually looks like a tiny baby

I find it all very interesting and am with the OP in wondering of the risks.

I've had 5 mc, all at differrent stages. After my first, I treat the pregnancy as a sacred thing incase I could prevent it from happening again....I couldn't. Two particular pregnancies I just carried on as normal, whilst avoiding all the logical risks- ds is now 6 , dd now 4. My theory is that there's not much you can do, usually if it's going to happen it's going to happen (within reason) but I always wonder what exactly is known to cause miscarriage? Other than obvious infections, abnormalities etc, would jumping off a wall do it? Would a roller coaster do it? What would? There are obvious things to avoid but occasionally this can be taken too far. Pregnancy is not a disability.

thenightsky · 01/07/2012 23:51

True... If I'd known, i woudn't have done all that obviously. What I was trying to say, but communicating poorly, was... if you've done stuff, don't beat yourself up about it.

SoleSource · 01/07/2012 23:52

If I had known I was pregnant I would have taken much. much better care of myself and followed medical advice to the letter. Going on the rides at a theme park wouldn't be something I would have done. Google it or ask your Doctor. I'm sure you're looking for pi do not know as people to tell you can go no matter what the official advice may be, of which I have no clue as I gave birth almost a few hours after I was told I was expecting, so too late!

Common sense would tell me no.

SoleSource · 01/07/2012 23:52

She knows she is pregnant!

whiteandyelloworchid · 01/07/2012 23:59

whats pi?

i can't really keep saying i'm definatley not going to do it, only a few weeks ago, i was getting a bashing on here as i cancelled seeing a friend as her dc had chickenpox and i was ttc.
thats how much of a non risk taker i am!
