I like to mix different pasta shapes, bitesize shapes in wholegrain, tricolore, durum. I like the different coloures and textures and the dc don't mind wholegrain in a mix like that.
my sister thinks I'm bu.
the only kind of pasta she will have is durum spaghetti. I think she ibu.

please tell me ianbu

YADNBU.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 29/06/2012 14:53

YANBU. I mix them up when I have three different packets but none with enough left for a whole meal. My dc barely even notice.

Annunziata · 29/06/2012 14:54

She is BU for only eating spaghetti! The wonderful pasta out there and she only eats spaghetti!

MikeLitoris · 29/06/2012 14:54

Shapes should not be mixed. Ever.

Wholegrain or not is up to you but no shape mixing.

WhispersOfWickedness · 29/06/2012 14:55

Why would she care? Confused

The only issue I would have with it myself would be that they would probably be different cooking times which could be a bit of a faff, but since it's not me cooking it, I wouldn't be bothered at all! People are weird Confused

carocaro · 29/06/2012 14:55

This outlandish crazy way of cooking should be banned, what are you thinking woman!

It was only last year that I found out Durham wheat was not from Durham and I'm 41! Well Melton Mowbary pork pies have to come from MM and Champers from France etc etc!

Annunziata · 29/06/2012 14:55

Actually, then your sauce will be unevenly mixed!

mumeuro · 29/06/2012 14:56

the only issue may be that different shapes require different cooking times...

Kittenkatzen · 29/06/2012 14:56

YANBU! Your sister is though!

takingiteasy · 29/06/2012 14:57

The thought of it makes my teeth itch.

NoComet · 29/06/2012 15:00

Whole wheat pasta is unreasonable, otherwise no problem.

Frontpaw · 29/06/2012 15:00

Usually not. How would you know what saice to put on it??

I do when I am being very naughty and only have tail ends of bags left. It is shameful though...

DoodleNoo · 29/06/2012 15:03

I would mix packets for family meals, if I had ends of packets of different shapes with similar cooking times. But I wouldn't serve it to my sister-in-law, or anyone else for that matter. Sorry!

Yama · 29/06/2012 15:08

Only in a total emergency.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 29/06/2012 15:37

YANBU but don't they cook at different speeds? Do you not end up with some 'al dente' and some soggy and some raw??

BBisTitanium · 29/06/2012 15:39

I personally love the green pasta (made with spinach i believe) any shape altho fussilli is my fav and DS calls it thesilly

CherryBlossom27 · 29/06/2012 15:40

Yanbu, yeah why not mix it up a bit? :)

BreconBeBuggered · 29/06/2012 16:41

Oh, no, no, no. No. I'd cook small batches of whatever I had and serve them up individually. Spaghetti for DS1, fusilli for DS2, and so on. But I am a twat about that kind of thing.

RuthlessBaggage · 29/06/2012 16:44

So long as the cooking times were observed, YANBU.

I grew up with "bows and ribbons" ie farfalle and tagliatelle mixed. Lush.

BigRedIndiaRubberBall · 29/06/2012 17:26

Ooh no, my tongue would get very confused.

My DH mixes breakfast cereals in the same bowl, eg Shreddies and muesli. It makes me quite stabby.

Hassled · 29/06/2012 17:29

Don't they have different cooking times and isn't that a logistical nightmare?

NarkedRaspberry · 29/06/2012 17:30

You're allowed to mix your pasta and she's allowed to only like spaghetti.

ByTheWay1 · 29/06/2012 17:32

The voice of reason NarkedRaspberry - I like that....

Rachog · 29/06/2012 17:35

Yanbu

carabos · 29/06/2012 17:38

Ooh steady tiger! It starts with mixing your pasta shapes then before you know where you are, your life is one long exotic whirl Grin.
