To have sex with pre teens in the house?!

Parents of older kids -do you still manage to have sex at all?!!

Dd1 and Dd2's rooms are either side of mine but for the moment they are both usually sound asleep by 9pm. However, Ds, 12, has a loft room above ours and I often hear him up and faffing about up to midnight despite his "bedtime" being 9pm and him having no computer, tv, phone or ipod in his room!

Do I have to commit myself to having no sex until they all move out? AIBU to have quietish sex with the risk of DS hearing and being utterly revolted?

(My mum was a single parent so I never had to experience the horror of parental sex!)

ScabbyHorse · 27/06/2012 21:25

To answer question, yes have sex but lock door and put music on?

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 21:25

a scratchy head and Hmm title

cant you move rooms with 1 of the children so your uploft son can't hear , it is difficult

BloooCowWonders · 27/06/2012 21:25

Get a lock on your door. Get into the habit of having a 'nap' at various times. Blame tv for any noises.

Just go for it :)

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 21:26

yes i leave TV on or music I have teens who never sleep before me so i just crank up the music

JumpingThroughHoops · 27/06/2012 21:26

Don't make a noise?

seeker · 27/06/2012 21:27

Tricky. Quiet sex. Sex after they've gone to school- I work very intermittently- sometimes dp has a morning off- complicated agreements that it doesn't matter if one of us doesn't feel like it, even if it's so well planned! Sex when they are both out in the early evening. But I do find their presence ...inhibiting... To say the least!

EightiesChick · 27/06/2012 21:27

Definitely lock the door. Or stay downstairs and use the sofa Wink if they're not prone to coming back down after they've gone to bed.

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/06/2012 21:27

i feel your pain.....both of mine are often awake long after me these days....DS once walked in on us. he only did it once though....i think it traumatised him.

loopyluna · 27/06/2012 21:28

I suppose swapping rooms with Dd2 might do the trick but what do we do when the dds get older?!

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 21:28

We had to stop midway once when DD1 staggered in from the pub Blush I cant wait for them to move out Grin

thisisyesterday · 27/06/2012 21:29

please tell me i'm not the only one who read this as you wanting sex with pre-teens????????

and no yanbu. have quietish sex as much as you like. or noisy sex and maybe ds will start going to sleep earlier Wink

Jodidi · 27/06/2012 21:29

Dd1 is 12 and has the room next door to us. She has a bedtime of 9pm, lights out at 9:30pm and she has been warned that we are not responsible for any noises she hears after 10pm. If she chooses not to go to sleep then she runs the risk of hearing things she didn't want to hear. I am We are not quiet either Blush

Mrsjay · 27/06/2012 21:29

No we all read it like that Confused

wigglesrock · 27/06/2012 21:29

I vaguely remember hearing my Mum and Dad have sex [shudder], he'll get over it, or get him a tv Grin

loopyluna · 27/06/2012 21:30

He's always wafting downstairs for a drink or something do sofa not a likely option.
If I put music on, he'd probably come down to ask us to turn it off!
