Ok here goes ds is nearing the end of yr 1 at primary school. One of the mums in his class has been boasting about her "xpole"(which has been "erected" in the front room!) and wants to host an Ann summers party next weekend. Tbh it's not my bag and it doesn't sit easy with me to have your dc subjected to all that jazz! Aibu?

Eh? Is an xpole a pole for dancing? Or a sex-toy? An erect sex-toy(are there any other sort tbh?) sounds off, if it's standing to attention in the front room.

DS1 (8) bought some handcuffs from poundland with his pocket money, after some commotion from upstairs we discovered he had handcuffed his 6 year old sister to the bed.

When you first become a parent you never expect to hear yourself saying "don't handcuff your sister to the bed"

CurrySpice · 26/06/2012 22:39

I have no idea verity. I assumed it was because I haven't had a drink tonight Confused

AnyoneForTennis · 26/06/2012 22:41

Where is op??

TantrumsAndBalloons · 26/06/2012 22:44

Many many questions.

What is a x pole? A stripper pole?
Who is she boasting about it to, your 5 year old?
Did she invite the DCs to the Ann summers party by the way, the 90s called, they want their party back

Why do you care????

tethersend · 26/06/2012 22:46

Tie a tennis ball on a piece of string to the xpole: hey presto! A Swingball.

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 26/06/2012 22:46

Omg my 4.5 yo would be ecstatic if we had a metal pole in our sitting room. I can barely get him out of his fireman hat as it is.

Shullbit · 26/06/2012 22:48

Did Adam provide it to her?

If so, he is going up in the world.

MirandaGoshawk · 26/06/2012 22:48

OP, do you mena that this common person other mum mummie has got a pole-dancing pole in her front room, that her dch are eposed to it, and on top of that, this mum is going to hold an Ann Summers party?

Because, if so, I would say - each to their own, she might be a lovely Mummie, it's unlikely her dch will be at the Ann Summers thing (they're for over 18s) & you don't really have to get involved.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 26/06/2012 22:49

I bet the op wasnt invited that's why she is upset.
you know you can get a rabbit online nowadays op?

MirandaGoshawk · 26/06/2012 22:49

*mean, not mena (typing in the dark as everyone else has gone to bed!)
*exposed Blush

Love this story: in my childminder's son's year at school they were doing crime and punishment as a history topic, and his friend brought in his parents' handcuffs and feathery whip for show and tell Grin

TantrumsAndBalloons · 26/06/2012 22:50

Good old Adam.

Was Sharon (and the wasp) there as well?

LynetteScavo · 26/06/2012 22:53

My 5 year DN has a living room full of acro props due to DB getting carried away with DIY house renovation.

She has come to no emotional harm, as far as I can tell.

ThreadWatcher · 28/06/2012 22:57

Is exam season over? - some seriously odd thread on mn ATM I sense bored teens may be to blame?

Reportmenow - seriously that is Shock

Birdsgottafly · 28/06/2012 23:09

YABU.

Pole dancing is being put forward as an olympic event and so it should. It is amazing to watch proper pole dancers, (who are not strippers).

Most of the champion dancers join the Cirque de Soleil and similar performers.

It is a shame that it is connected to the sex trade, as you need to be an athlete to pole dance properly.

DamselInTornDress · 28/06/2012 23:16

This thread made me think of the Pole Dancer mum who was selling snow shovels.

X Pole is a stripper pole see my SIL has one.

I am sooo confused about what is going on though.

She is holding an Ann Summers party for 5 year olds?
She is holding an Ann Summers party and her 5 year old will be around?
She is holding an Ann Summers party for other mums and has been talking about this at the school?

OP WHERE ARE YOU?! I need to understand whats going on.

My kids age 3 and 5 loved my pole, they boasted they had a fire and pole in the living room. We've moved and I haven't got room now and I miss it terribly, it's great for fitness. Kids have no idea of other uses at that age!

wheredidyoulastseeit · 29/06/2012 10:30

Ruby love the fact that the advertising says they sell the poles to schools!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 29/06/2012 11:09

I have an X pole - dont worry, they are perfectly safe......Grin

YABU actually, my 9 year old DS loves my pole - its improved his strength no end, he can get to the top in to time and is actually quite good at some of the spins :)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 29/06/2012 11:10

Ruby - an X pole is not a stripper pole...it is a very strong safe pole used for fitness not titilation!
