To be REALLY bored by the Beckhams

It's been in the news today about the musical about the Spice Girls. Not a fan, never been one, but whichever media I look at has the Beckhams in on a daily basis. David with his squeaky voice and not that many brains and Victoria SMILE WOMAN ffs with her designs for lollipops.
I can't deny they're a successful brand and they're obviously mulit-millionaires but sorry, THEY JUST DON'T DESERVE IT! Posh is talentless and her PR needs some serious looking at as all her images have one expression only.
It's all so tedious and shallow. Am I alone in this?!

I remember VB saying in an interview that they bought their first home at 25 (I think) - up until then she had lived in hotels, whilst in the Spice Girls. She said they stood at the bottom of the garden and looked up at their 5m house which they'd bought outright and felt really proud of themselves. She wasn't bragging - she was explaining she hadn't had a home until then and she was mad on him and she was really happy to be buying such a lovely home.

VB, if you're on here, please confirm this!

NonnoMum · 26/06/2012 22:12

VB was at that particular photoshoot to help promote a new West End musical loosely based on the Spice Girls story. Presumably that musical will provide a living for many other people. It would have looked odd if she wasn't there.

Db has done and continues to do a great job in promoting sport and a healthy lifestyle and was a lynchpin the Olympic Bid.

I LOVE what VB has said about being a mum (sometimes you don't get any sleep, the constant juggle etc).

There are far worse role models out there. Good luck to them, I say.

Eleanor Roosevelt agrees,

"Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people."

LeeCoakley · 26/06/2012 22:22

Why don't they deserve it? I don't understand. Loads of rich successful people out there but the Beckhams seem to annoy the masses more than most. Are people jealous because they seem to 'have it all'? And why should you have to have 'brains'? They use their talents that they have and are brilliant role models for their children.

scottishmummy · 26/06/2012 22:22

was Eleanor Roosevelt known to be a sharp mind?

ImperialBlether · 26/06/2012 22:23

She never shut up, scottishmummy; she's quoted all over the place.

scottishmummy · 26/06/2012 22:25

thanks.didn't know that
I'm off to google her quotes

LeeCoakley · 26/06/2012 22:25

..And no minds turn a blind eye to their husband's mistress Eleanor.

ImperialBlether · 26/06/2012 22:27

Lee, there are many of us who have done that. I don't know why she's criticised for doing that when DB isn't criticised for shagging someone. You wouldn't slag someone off on here for downplaying something like that for their own sanity, would you?

quoteunquote · 26/06/2012 22:32

scottish mummy, was Eleanor Roosevelt known to be a sharp mind?

she might of replied,

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Cabrinha · 26/06/2012 22:42

YABU. If you're bored with them, I suspect it's more to do with your choice of media to expose yourself to. Without trying to avoid them in any way, I haven't seen or heard them / of them in at least a year - until reading this thread. I don't read trashy magazines or papers though!

creativepebble · 26/06/2012 22:48

Cabrinha it was on the BBC website, not trashy media.

OP posts:
SparklyTwinkles · 27/06/2012 00:31

YABU. If your that bored by them why create a thread to discuss them???

squeakytoy · 27/06/2012 00:37

He was interview on Jonathan Ross recently, and he certainly is not the squeaky voiced shy bloke that he used to be. He was well spoken, articulate, and intelligent.

She does my head in a bit because I do get the feeling she likes the hype of her never smiling... and I think she feels that she has to keep this image up for the media.

When she was at stage school (pre Spice Girls and up until they formed) she was a student lodger at my friends house, and she was a really nice friendly girl.

But I do think they are a good couple. They had a blip in their relationship, which happens to plenty of people, but for most of us, it doesnt go global in the media.. they worked through it, and came out stronger the other side.

balotelli · 27/06/2012 07:19

You're just jealous.

I think David is an exellent role model for todays dc. He works hard, very hard. He is a good father, he is a loyal husband and comes across as a genuinely pleasant bloke. Victoria seems to be a good mother. SHe works hard and although she comes across as a moody bat sometimes I think she enjoys keeping up the 'posh spice grumpy' image and the only person I know that has met her claims she was the funniest, most generous person she had met.

They also do shit loads for charity without much publicity.

YABU

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 27/06/2012 07:27

I don't think they do court the publicity- I could probably count on one hand the amount of actual interviews they have given recently, as opposed to pictures taken while they are going about their lives.

catus · 27/06/2012 07:31

You're bored by them so you decide to start a thread on them, good logic there!
And I'm sure Tim Burton and Helena BC are more your style right?
So predictable!

WhyTheBigPaws · 27/06/2012 07:32

It did wind me up how po-faced she looked in those photos, obviously a lot of issues between the girls... Can't understand why she always looks so grumpy - if I had a gorgeous husband, lovely kids and a fantastic career like she does I would walk around grinning like a loon the whole time!

LeeCoakley · 27/06/2012 08:14

Imperial, with regards to my 'no minds' comment it was aimed at Eleanor Roosevelt not VB! But I see how it could be misinterpreted.

Psammead · 27/06/2012 08:22

They are alright. If you dislike them, just pay no attention to stories about them.

noddyholder · 27/06/2012 08:23

I like her clothes He seems like a nice bloke good dad but don,t think for a minute he is faithful to her

SoleSource · 27/06/2012 08:32

I like the Beckhams. Good for them.

sugarice · 27/06/2012 08:43

Let's face it, neither of them give a hoot what we think and why should they? They've done extremely well for themselves and I for one would love to have the homes and the security that their money has bought them. The whole fashion designer thing does irritate me though. She's the figurehead of her brand but actual designer, please Hmm. Would she know one end of a Singer sewing machine from the other or how to cut a pattern, I doubt it. I find him to be more irritating than her to be honest, there's something about him that make's me think he's hard to live with, big ego and all that.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/06/2012 08:50

I'm not sure you're bored of them OP, perhaps actively irritated by them Hmm

I know I am whenever I see moderate talented uber-rich people - what with my fabulous genius going unrecognised monetarily Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 27/06/2012 08:52

I also think she smiles and has fun as much as the next person but the media refuse to print pictures of her smiling and laughing as they only want to sell one side of her.
