Really?

That is just an excuse to their employers to spend part of their working day, when the children are at school flopping about in front of the TV or getting anal about saucepans being left out on the side and then lo and behold when their young offspring arrive home..they have to do work and off they go to their laptops..pathetic..and then when they are confronted about this they start going on about friends that they know whose wifes work just to make you feel guilty..have they no clue whatsoever that mothers at home are doing work!! the most important work..that they can not even bring themselves to attempt?

Rant not over yet...

AND I am happy to be completely unreasonable!!

I love when DH works from home ..... the house is hoovered, washing on the line, brought in, folded up and put away, dinner cooked, dishwasher stacked.

Absolute bliss

WorraLiberty · 26/06/2012 21:32

**

Well it makes more sense than the opening post.... Grin

Socknickingpixie · 26/06/2012 21:33

i think i get what your talking about and if its what i think then yanbu but i do think you need a nice sit down and a cup of tea

bogeyface · 26/06/2012 21:34

ACtually I know someone who is never rushed of their feet when working from home, until 3pm, which carries on until....ooh, about 8pm. Just after bath and bed, funny that.....Hmm

Oh and his wife is leaving him, but she hasnt told him yet!

bogeyface · 26/06/2012 21:34

Infact, I am wondering if you are my friend OP, because her rants sound very similar to yours!

Jinsei · 26/06/2012 21:35

Out of interest, OP, do your comments apply equally to women who ask to work at home? Confused

miniwedge · 26/06/2012 21:36

Lol, to be fair the op has said she is happy to be completely unreasonable. And she is!

TantrumsAndBalloons · 26/06/2012 21:37

Trolls??

Do you know what a troll actually is??

And as for an intelligent person understanding your post? Well it would have to be an intelligent, well written post that makes sense for that to happen.
The title doesn't even make sense.

HTH

Ormiriathomimus · 26/06/2012 21:37

I work from home one day a week and more when I need to. Yes I do clean the house but as I tend to start work at 7am and finish at about 7pm I think I am allowed an hour off. But is is OK because I'm a mother?

WorraLiberty · 26/06/2012 21:43

Lol, to be fair the op has said she is happy to be completely unreasonable. And she is!

Yeah, she doesn't sound very happy though....

TantrumsAndBalloons · 26/06/2012 21:45

That's cos she is so intelligent

Us stupid people tend to be happier Grin

Are you a troll to suggest she is unhappy?

miniwedge · 26/06/2012 21:46

Which is a shame Worrall. I vote we give her a humongous mumsnetty hug. That'll do it. Failing that we'll have to bring in the big guns and put a call out for Peter Andres Love For His Kids.

Smellslikecatspee · 26/06/2012 22:02

FFS.

I work from home and am sick to back teeth of this idea that it's the easy option.

I'm regularly in tele-meetings at 6am, and then still working at 7-8at night. All of these is without a 'quick' coffee, wandering off to lunch, seeing someone in the corridor and chatting fo 20 minutes, it's usually 10-11 hours solid work. I go in to the office for a break.

!?!?

DH works from home 8.30 - 3.30 then 7.30pm - 11 six days a week.

He works very hard at being a Dad as well as his paid employment

bogeyface · 26/06/2012 22:39

I work from home btw, my one day in the office per week is a break for me too. I am not slating WFHers, just those ones that use it as an excuse to do sod all for both work and family.

In a way its quite impressive really, does skiving from work duties and family duties count as multitasking?

SparklyTwinkles · 27/06/2012 00:04

I think most of you have took the OP's post the wrong way, shes not saying anything about people who actually do work from home, the her post seems to be on about her own husband who by the post is taking the absolute piss. No you are not being unreasonable. I think I'd be cross if that was going on in my home too.

BackforGood · 27/06/2012 00:09

Well, YABcompletelyU in the way you responded in your 2nd post.
Your OP is completely unclear as to what you are asking if YABU about or not. The gist of it suggests you are having a moan about your partner, but that doesn't fit with the title at all. Lots of people work from home and work damned hard. Some people no doubt work from home and take advantage - I'd suggest they are in the minority, but it no doubt goes on (just as there are skivvers who turn up at the office and get little done).

cornflowers · 27/06/2012 06:17

Worryingly, I can actually relate to the op and the situation described.

HecateAdonaea · 27/06/2012 06:55

No. It wasn't clear what the OP was on about. A massive rant for some reason about 'men' in general who for some reason she believes all behave the same way, for which she must surely have evidence or examples - or a rant about a particular man in her life who has pissed her off. It wasn't clear.

And her response was hateful and spiteful. She was mistaken that her post was clear. It was not. And to respond so spitefully calling people stupid and trolls in such an aggressive manner is in itself actually classic trolling behaviour. There was no need for that outburst of venom, it was vile behaviour.

fuzzpig · 27/06/2012 07:01

Is gabby back? I wondered what happened to them.

HecateAdonaea · 27/06/2012 07:03

gabby was last here pontificating about a 'homelessness holocaust.' I didn't think the OP was him, because I don't have him pegged as someone who starts a post with the word 'growl'. plus He Capitalises The First Letter Of Every Word.

Beamae · 27/06/2012 07:10

IME there us quite a lot of time wasting going on in the office as well... Making coffees, chatting, popping outside for a smoke. You get less done because of the social aspect. I think when you work from home you can condense a full day in the office into fewer hours. I think time wasting at home is probably more noticeable since it involved lounging in front of the telly, and is probably quite annoying if it's underfoot. And if he has used the excuse of helping with the children and is actually just wanting a duvet day, maybe more so.

fuzzpig · 27/06/2012 07:16

Ah Yes, I Forgot About That.

I do miss Gabby.

HecateAdonaea · 27/06/2012 07:18

He's nothing if not entertaining, bless him. You just want to ruffle his hair and squish his irate little cheekies Grin
