You can get fab dummy clips by Heimess- renewable hardwood, saliva resistant non toxic paints, stainless steel clip, loads of different colours/themes :) (sells fab baby stuff in independent toy shop)
DD1 used to wear her dummy round her neck on a brightly coloured bootlace when she was older (finally put my foot down when she was 3 and told her the dentist said no more dummies). I can't imagine doing that now!!

5madthings · 26/06/2012 15:51

morris its avent or nothin here as well!

oh and i have the fab wooden clips, they are lovely and it does clip on well, much better than the plastic ones you can get. i am sure it was about £6 tho and i thought we had lost the clip the other day, i eventually found it the under the stairs cupboard! god knows how it had got there!

Ithinkitsjustme · 26/06/2012 15:54

When you want one in the middle of the night they are nowhere to be found, but just wait until she is giving them up - then you will find that everytime you put one in the bin, sjhe will find at least two to replace it! Grin

YoulllaughAboutItOneDay · 26/06/2012 15:57

YABtotallyU. I reckon it would take at least 15 billion to have one to hand whenever needed Grin.

3monkeys · 26/06/2012 15:57

My baby is now 6, and I still have a couple in the bathroon cabinet - just in case!! Have bought millions over the years for my 3 though

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 26/06/2012 16:22

I had to buy 2 more only this morning. Where the fuck they go, I have no idea Angry Those bastard borrowers have it coming...

AdmiralBenson · 26/06/2012 17:29

I now spend on dummies what I used to spend on beer as a carefree, childless person who disapproved of dummies.

Feck knows where they go. We're moving soon, and the bit I'm most looking forward to about the move is discovering where all the dummies are.

Ithinkitsjustme · 26/06/2012 17:32

We threw the last one out yesterday (although I wouldn't mind betting that we find a fair few over the next couple of weeks years)

McHappyPants2012 · 26/06/2012 17:36

Attach a key finder to the dummy :)

CuppaTeaJanice · 26/06/2012 19:50

I didn't buy 8 million, but I did go to the Cash and Carry and buy 135 dummies in one go, all on display cards like those pork scratchings you get in pubs. DS stopped using dummies shortly afterwards, so I still have over 100 in a box somewhere. Might put them on ebay.....

NorfolkNChance · 26/06/2012 19:55

I swear the dummies have a homing beacon to the factory they were made from. Avent are laughing their evil arses off at night as hundreds of dummies come scuttling back to the mothership a la those fat blob thingies on Doctor Who that time.

It's a conspiracy.

Socknickingpixie · 26/06/2012 20:09

yanbu
but uabu if you dont find them with the socks and tell me where mine are

McHappyPants2012 · 26/06/2012 20:18

Pmsl Norfolk after a crappy day that has cheered me right up

tittytittyhanghang · 26/06/2012 20:30

same in our house too except that since we got a puppy in december it can be almost guaranteed to find a dummy in the dogs mouth in the middle of the night when ds wakes up looking for it. I think we are spoiling ds as he usually only gets one spell of it before the dog claims it, like rich people only wear pants once and then get new ones (that must be true cos i read in online somewhereGrin)

VegansTasteBetter · 26/06/2012 20:40

We have a saying in this house titty "it's dead to you dd". That means it's been handled by a dog/dragged by a cat or a hit a particularly disgusting patch of street

OP posts:
jazzchickens · 26/06/2012 20:48

The reason you can't find them is because your DC are stashing all the dummies away.

They know there will come a day when you say they must give them up but their stash will keep them going for years.

I sticthed a Mam dummy clip (just the soft plastic bit) to the corner of his teddy blanket soother, and attach a dummy to there, no string to strangle him although I might one night, and clloth to small to smother him.

PrincessOfChina · 26/06/2012 20:55

We have a dummy bunny. He keeps hold of four in DD's cot with his Velcro hands and she can find him whenever she needs one.

It's genius.

toddlerwrangler · 26/06/2012 21:01

YANBU.

I had a million bazillion trillion dummies.
Alf had one to about 7 weeks, when he found his thumb and I was sick of losing them.
He is three and a half years.
The little bastards are still turning up in places.

CrackedNipplesSuchFun · 26/06/2012 21:06

Wow I consider myself a very lucky mum after reading this! My DS, who has just turned one, has only ever had two dummies at a time. We replace them periodically when the current ones are a bit shabby.

That said, he does only have them at naps and bed time. Definitely know that feeling though of having to go into the his room in the middle of the night , half asleep and looking for the elusive dummy! I keep his spare one in the kitchen (we're in a flat) so that if I can't find the bloody thing I can just grab that one.

kitten0710 · 26/06/2012 21:09

We got so fed up of dd losing her dummies down the back of the cot that I used a muslin square and knotted it through the handle of the dummy. The dummies disappear down the back of the cot but the muslin stays on the mattress and makes for easy grabbing in the night. Wink
Just wish we'd thought of it when ds was going through his dummy phase.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 26/06/2012 21:13

Get one of these, tie it on and make sure the bottom is below the top of the mattress and throw all dummies in the cot. Grin

JarethTheGoblinKing · 26/06/2012 21:14

PrincessofChina - that is indeed genius.. why didn't I think of that!

dribbleface · 26/06/2012 21:15

Was gonna get one of them jareth but DS2 literally lobs his dummy out his cot!
