Its getting a bit late now isnt it. and there is school tomorrow. DS1 is football mad. There is lots of shouting and jumping around being done. I told him he could watch it but didnt consider extra time or penalties.
It is a bit late though isnt it.... and he is going to be very grumpy tomorrow at school Confused am i being a crap mother??
( I cant stand it btw. but it gives me a chance to mumsnet)

i don't think it's a problem no. but what do I know?!

Sirzy · 24/06/2012 22:11

As a one off it won't do any harm. I am guessing that plenty of others I his class will be equally as grumpy will have stayed up too

busyboysmum · 24/06/2012 22:12

Mine are in bed (7 & 10)

squeakytoy · 24/06/2012 22:13

I would let him watch, he wont go to sleep until it is over anyway

Booette · 24/06/2012 22:13

Mine are in bed, but only because they don't like football. I don't see any harm in letting him stay up late once in a while. At least if he's grumpy he'll be at school not at home. Grin

laurz75 · 24/06/2012 22:14

Might as well now - Come on England Smile but not hopeful.

DressDownFriday · 24/06/2012 22:14

Let him stay up. He can have an early night tomorrow.

Dd1 keeps shouting down for DH to kiss her goodnight. He has now gone up during the break.

RobotLover68 · 24/06/2012 22:15

Mine is 11 and wasn't allowed to watch extra time - it's very late

elliepac · 24/06/2012 22:16

I sent DS (8) up at half time. However he has been at cub camp all weekend and is pooped. In your scenario I would let him stay up. My guess is half of his class will also stay up.

If they win (slim to non-existent), it was the right choice. If they lose, (probable) waste of timeWinkGrin.

MrsRhettButler · 24/06/2012 22:16

Oh you can't send him to bed now!

Come on ENGLAND!!!!!

Hulababy · 24/06/2012 22:16

DD's in bed but doesn't like football. But as a one off, even on a school night, I am sure it'll be fine.

Last week DD's school play didn't finish until almost 10pm. By time we were home and DD was ready for bed it was half part at earliest. She was fine for school next day - as were the others and some were in Y3 and Y4 - so 7 years old.

ElephantsCanRemember · 24/06/2012 22:16

Let him stay up Grin

DS(12) has been allowed to stay up for all the major tournaments. This and the world cup - only every 2 years. You can't send him to bed now!

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 22:17

Let him stay up. My 2 Dss are still boinging about. They will still get 9 hours sleep in.

Nospringflower · 24/06/2012 22:17

Mine are up - age 10, 8 and 7 - and their Scottish although supporting England. They should be in bed but it's a one off so why not? Will have tired boys tomorrow ...

Nospringflower · 24/06/2012 22:17

They're of courseSmile

LadySucre · 24/06/2012 22:18

stay up. mean to send him now.

EcoLady · 24/06/2012 22:19

11yo DD was allowed to watch normal play, but not the extra time. DH does not 'do' penalties, so he has turned it off!

severnofnine · 24/06/2012 22:20

He is currently doing a "come on england" dance around the living room...... as a one off I guess its ok

Dh and I are not sporty at all so having a child who knows all the players/ who is going to take the penalties/ who they play for etc is a bit strange.

I'm just keen for them to hurry up and get it done now....

My 2 DDs are 11 (Y6) and 14 they are shouting at the football as I type.

DD1 is a right night owl, she's spent the last 11 years setting DD2 a bad example, so I'm really not going to worry.

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 22:21

Yes, let him watch them lose on penalties then send him to bed. Sad

anklebitersmum · 24/06/2012 22:23

DS1 (12) is sat twitching on the very edge of his chair..DH is doing the same on his :o

It's not naughty occasionally.

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 22:24

I have come upstairs, There is shouting downstairs. Sad

ElephantsCanRemember · 24/06/2012 22:26
